I can't read anything because I only know one language. Sucks to be American sometimes frown

Good luck with it Thor, many congrats!

I know, Peter. And it probably won't help to play the sound clip either, as I speak Norwegian there too. You can listen to the music clips, of course, but then again you can do that anywhere else too.

No worries, though.....I'll be sure to let everyone know when I post my first INTERNATIONAL edition in my own warped English. smile

For the moment, I need to go viral and attract attention (I took the liberty of inviting several of you folks to my Celluloid Tunes facebook page...hope that was OK).

My big french film music favorite is Deep Forest's score to Alain Corneau's "Le Prince Du Pacifique" (2000):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57N_mTbjynA

And let's not forget Jean-Michel Jarre's Les Granges Brulees...

And in a month or so, even AIR could have been featured (re Pioneer).

But nice to see Colombier and Serra there!

Thor, were you familiar with the Deep Forest score?

I wasn't, no. In fact, I wasn't aware they had done any film scores at all.

In addition to Pacifique, they also scored the Japanese film KUSA NO RAN in 2004:

http://www.discogs.com/Deep-Forest-Kusa-No-Ran-Music-From-The-Motion-Picture/release/2421630

And of course, they were credited with "additional music" to Strange Days. Two tracks appeared on the soundtrack (While Earth Sleeps and Coral Lounge), and IMO their contribution to the film was far stronger than Graeme Revell's score.

Ah Deep Forest, I love their stuff. I still listen to their albums regularly. The album was released simply titled 'Pacifique', and worth seeking out. I was always under the impression most of it wasn't used in the film, but having never seen it I'm not sure about that.

I don't know anything about how the music ended up in the film, as I haven't seen it either.

World Mix and Boheme are two brilliant DF albums. Comparsa is OK, while I still haven't got Music Detected, which didn't really sound like 90s DF.

I agree with that Jon. 'Boheme' is my personal favourite. 'Music Detected' is a good album, some good songs but as you say it was a bit different from the earlier stuff, mainly in that it featured solo vocalists singing in English.

Sorry I missed these. Frankly I am still missing it because the most attractive part is your take on this music which I am not getting, due to my language disability, but good luck with this series. My favorite is the French so far. Thanks for the spotlight on Auric, Cosma, Colombier and Tiersen, who do not get the attention they deserve. But you did miss my favorite Kosma, Joseph (Renoir's composer). English version of his song he wrote with his score to LES PORTES DE LA NUIT.

Yeah, Joseph Kosma is another good one, but I had to draw a line somewhere. So many great French composers!

Henry, the next episode, due in a week or so, will be in ENGLISH -- the first international edition, and I plan to have episodes in English every FIVE episodes or so.

Nice subject! Good to see Whale Rider there. I also particularly liked the Deborah Lurie track.

An important person in female (electronic) film music is Suzanne Ciani, who scored Joel Schumacher's The Incredible Shrinking Woman in 1981.

Other ones I thought of was Abigail Mead (Full Metal Jacket) and Jocelyn Pook (Eyes Wide Shut).
