Having read Thierry Schreurs thread on "The ultimate warrior" and just having seen "Starship invasions", I think it's time to add this soundtrack to the request list. Of course, "Kolchak" still is the number 1 on the release request list but this one should be an immediate second:

STARSHIP INVASIONS as a score is Mellé's magnum opus, in my opinion!
Jazz Funk Avant Garde all the way!

Robert Vaughn still moans to this day about how bad he thought The Protectors was, and then he appears in this steaming pile of doo-doo?

Priceless big grin

And I assume Christopher Lee was going through a phase of being unable to pay his bills either!

Still - I wouldn't mind hearing the music on a CD. It sounds like the best part of the film....

Who cares about the film?
Only the music is valuable.
Great composers sometimes are compelled to score infra films.

Including me, that's four sure-fire sales. Anyone else?

Another totally wonderful score from the totally wonderful mind of the tirelessly inventive Gil Mellé. I love watching films like this and hearing such an inspired score - inspired by what? Certainly not by the film itself. I'm sure Gil Mellé actually came from another planet, because his brain surely didn't function in a "normal", pedantic and film-scorey way. Perhaps it was the sight of Christopher Lee in leotards, but Mellé went full-out bonkers on this one, and the results are a pure delight.

Sounds good to me based on the clip. Reminds me of "The Omega Man" score in a way. And that cue in the clip -- reminds me of another film score, but I can't quite place it.

However, whoever did the designs in the art department of that film, should, as Garfield said, be "drug out in the street and shot". Godawful.

It'd be an instant purchase for me.

More funk-inflected music: flute, electric pianos, fancy interlaced strings section, percus galore.

Could You Pick Me Up a Paper on Your Way to Jupiter?

I always loved those "interlaced strings" in that clip. It's really just an experiment in overlay delay, which turns it into a funky fugue! Some great stuff throughout the entire score.

I would muster great excitement to have any Gil Melle I don't already have, which is the precious few film titles released in recent years. I would also like to acquire Waterbirds which Burlingame recommends in the Omnibus notes.

Same here. Does anyone know where the score was recorded and if the tapes are available?

The release of The Sentinel has me dreaming of Starship Invasions again, which is for me GM’s most enjoyable and addictive score. Still hoping it hits the market some day!

After watching the Rifftrax version (aka the bearable version), I would be all over a score release.

Maybe it was a "Starcrash" situation and he didn't see the movie before writing the music.
