Sorry to bring a disappointment this Thursday morning but there aren't going to be any autographed copies of the Johnny Mandel Trio 3CD set. Commencing explanation and groveling:

The explanation is that he's not available to sign them. Sorry we can't be more forthcoming but despite everyone's best intentions it's not going to happen.

The groveling is that we're very sorry about this and if you ordered one of the to-be-autographed copies, Screen Archives will be in touch about whether you want the regular $39.95 edition instead, or nothing. Or email them at orders@screenarchives.com

How does this happen? Things just go bad once in a while and we had been holding off making this announcement trying to find a way for it to happen, but nothing panned out. Believe me, we've spent the last 2 weeks going ARRGHGH that we would have to break this to people.

So, there we are. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

These things happen... I can't be mad really. It would have been cool if the autographed copies would have occured, still I am sure many would have been sold off on Ebay for really high prices, esp since so few would have been available... I wrote in having my order to be canceled, I will wait to see if I do a different order at a later time.

Thanks for your nice note. We know some people also ordered the "regular" edition so we didn't want to just transmute the autographed orders into "Regular" orders.

But, um...I really do hope people get this (anyway). It's really beautiful music.

I am still going to order it for sure... I retired my old LP of Sandpiper... I just did an order at Intrada.com and then noticed the Mandel issue. But I will prob order it in next day or so.

Is it too soon to ask what the Second Screw-Up of 2009 will be? Perhaps you could give us a hint?

An unfortunate turn of events. Still - good music is good music and Mandel had a habit of such.

On a positive note, it'll save me fifty dollars.

Yes, $50 extra to buy another film-score CD or two!

Or whatever else need be obtained..
