This week Intrada has re-released two previously out-of-print CDs - James Horner's score for STAR TREK: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK, and Alan Silvestri's music for Stephen King's CAT'S EYE.
Quartet has announced three new releases -- Ernest Gold's score for Sam Peckinpah's penultimate film, the WWII drama CROSS OF IRON, featuring the same cues as the original LP release; the 2021 thriller AMERICAN NIGHT, starring Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and scored by Marco Beltrami and Ceiri Torjussen; and the 2021 Danish World War II drama THE BOMBARDMENT (aka The Shadow in My Eye), scored by Marco Beltrami, Buck Sanders and Ceiri Torjussen.

"The series often dips into musical elements (in 2017, Sub Pop released an album containing all 107 songs from the first six seasons, including performances by St. Vincent, The National, and Stephin Merritt of Magnetic Fields) and 'The Bob’s Burger’s Movie' includes a show-stopping opener and a wonderfully wacky song-and-dance involving the local carnie population. While the song’s scores recur throughout the feature, Bouchard and Derriman demure from letting the entire thing go big! splashy! musical!, which feels like a missed opportunity to do something really special. "These moves reinforce the distinctly verité quality that runs through the spine of 'Happening,' which feels altogether appropriate considering the autobiographical source material. Set almost 60 years in the past, the film never puts the audience at a remove, staying right on top of Anne through a combination of scene construction, camera placement, and blocking. What’s more, the almost primal neutrality of the score, chirping at sudden intervals like a clocktower chiming in the distance, reinforces the oppressive dread that strums through the background of the piece like a lazy bass line, rarely allowing its lead a reprieve."

This is best demonstrated in the electrifying second act training sequence -- an obligatory inclusion in any good sports movie, but ingeniously improved upon by this team’s propulsive sound and vision. This segment is visually and audibly symphonic, blending a rousing hip-hop banger with Dan Deacon’s score, cinematographer’s Zak Mulligan’s effused lighting and sharp cuts by editors Tom Costain, Brian M. Robinson and Keiko Deguchi. It mimics the intense focus and revving engine inside the athlete’s psyche, helped along by Sandler’s motivational hollering."

"There isn’t a look-at-me device left unemployed by 'The Sky Is Everywhere,' as Decker utilizes dreamy narration, swirling and rotating camerawork, gliding edits, paper mâché-style animation, CGI flights of fancy and an eclectic Caroline Shaw score full of orchestral music, woodwinds, horns and dainty French tunes. Notebook paper constantly flutters in the wind, girls twirl, spin and frolic in an 'enchanted' Redwood forest and the world goes apocalyptically dark and brilliantly bright according to the fluctuating state of Lennie (Grace Kaufman), a teenager whose happy-go-lucky existence as the sidekick to older sister Bailey (Havana Rose Liu) is forever shattered when Bailey dies of a heart condition, leaving Lennie alone, bereft and directionless."
