If you're impatient, you can always cancel with SAE and order from Varese - I ordered and received the album in 2 days, on the other side of the country
In contrast, I ordered a disc from La La Land on Tuesday, and it was dispatched yesterday.
Two weeks plus to turn around an order (for in-stock items) in this day and age is not what most consumers would expect.
Two comments: 1) Have you actually checked the order status on the site? Sometimes emails aren't sent out when the item ships for whatever reason, even though the order status is changed.
2) It may not actually be in stock, despite what the site says. They may be waiting on a shipment from Varese.

1) My order status says "Pending"
2) I don't believe SAE list items they don't have in stock (apart from pre-orders).
If SAE was having problems sourcing stock, perhaps they should, as a courtesy, keep their customers informed?

Same here. Ordered within hours of STID being announced so I find it difficult to believe they haven't had enough in by now to honour the order (I take it they do work through the orders in order of purchase?)
Ordered it with another title so not switching suppliers (the title is a used title so can't be the reason for the delay)
STID was released, what.... 28 July. It's going to be September now before it arrives. Hence why I posted here just to see whether anyone has actually received STID from SAE. Maybe they haven't received any copies yet from Varese.
SAE gets Varèse Club titles from Varèse the same way any of us does. They ordered stock from Varèse and had to wait for it to arrive in Virginia before sending it out. This is not the same as the above-referenced La La Land, which produces their own CDs and has them on hand from the moment you can order them.
If they weren't clear about this when you ordered, I get the complaint. But as for sending it out, they have to wait for the CDs to arrive.

True, but lately SAE has been slow to get stuff out.
I also can't believe how shafted The Vengeance theme was on the original album. I didn't even know it existed!
Me neither. Is it used on the original album at all? Can't remember hearing it, but it is really good... "Ode to Vengence" is definitely one of the highlights among the new tracks!
I've been pretty vocal about not really 'getting' this score. A friend whose taste I respect, repeatedly insisted that I try the Varese Deluxe edition and I broke down and ordered a copy. Having given it a listen, I have to say that the score is much less fragmentary and more cohesive in complete form. I really like the material for Khan. Much as I hate the film and what it did to Khan amongst other things, I have to admit the scoring does match the character very well in his incarnation in the film.
I still think this is a step behind Trek 2009, mainly because I find the finale material to be almost hysterically loud and filled with stingers and I find the Klingon material to be incredibly obnoxious. In the end, I would probably give it about 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's very strong when compared against most contemporary scoring, but weaker when you compare it to the very excellent legacy of Trek movie music that precedes it.
The Klingon material is my favourite stuff from Into Darkness, as the Vulcan stuff was my favourite from the 2009 movie. But generally I am incredibly BLAH about Giacchino's Trek scores. They're generally okay, and pass the time nicely but, like the films, I can't take them seriously as part of the Trek canon.

I'm totally with you about the Vulcan material. It's the best aspect of Giacchino's Trek scores and his Vulcan theme is up there with Eidelman's and Horner's. I particularly like the development of it in the end credits of '09.

It is the one aspect that totally feels like Star Trek, I agree. That New Car Smell is still the single best cue from both new films. Erhu was a brilliant choice of an instrument for Spock and Vulcan.
