Of course I also can't confirm an upcoming release and can only speculate. Anyway, if EBOLI indeed appears in the Beat Piccioni series, then it would certainly be quite soon in just a few months. Till now the chronology of the entire series has been: 1959 - 1962 - 1963 - 1965 - 1968 - 1969 - 1975. Maybe something like LE TÉMOIN (1978) or IL COMUNE SENSO DEL PUDORE (1976) could still appear directly after CUORE DI CANE, but then it should be the proper time for EBOLI.

Would you rank LE ALTRE as better than SCACCO ALLA REGINA? Hi ToneRow, I think most would agree that Scacco Alla Regina is a Piccioni masterpiece, and the disc is a perfect listening experience. So too is Le Altre but for slightly different reasons. The colors of Scacco are at times more subdued, sensual, and ethereal ("con o senza sole" comes to mind), as the dominant prominence of Edda's vocals simply put it into a separate category from Le Altre. So, ToneRow, with great respect for your own detailed knowledge of Piccioni's work, I'll have to admit I can't rank Le Altre over/under Scacco Alla Regina; Well, not with a clear conscience anyway, because for me, each one is a "10 of 10" Once you get a hold of Le Altre, I'd love to know your thoughts!

and Piccioni's '74 IL BACIO (also from TV) is in my Top 10. So far, I haven't been disappointed by any of PP's music for television. IL BACIO was not at all a TV movie, it was a regular feature film released in Italian cinemas in June 1974.

The new Saimel looks to be something worthwhile? I had already written some lines about the score here: http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=101352&forumID=1&archive=0 I have the CD now here and it is a really nice album which will please above all those who like Piccioni's LE MONACHE DI SANT'ARCANGELO and IL MALATO IMMAGINARIO. There are reference points for both scores. The love theme from the rejected music of L'UOMO CHE RIDE from 1965 crops up in the track 2 of the BENVENUTO CELLINI score in an arrangement just for for flute and harpsichord. We also at last get the track "Fantasia pastorale" from the LE MONACHE LP album (A 4) which was missing on the Digitmovies CD. It is now track 13 on the Saimel CD, and there is also a shorter, faster version in track 8 of this theme. Also "Musica per un tema di liuto" from MONACHE (B 3 on the LP) is here in a new arrangement where the lute as solo instrument is much more prominent (track 4 on the CD). It appears again in a different arrangement in track 6 and just the same piece as on the MONACHE LP/CD is then heard in track 15. There are also some more sinister and sombre, very idiosyncratic suspense pieces in between which ToneRow will certainly enjoy. The lovely "L'estro ironico" from IL MALATO IMMAGINARIO Is already present in the GIACOMO CASANOVA score in track 24 on the CD.
