Based on what I've heard from Pemberton, I'll probably pick up the album at some point, but the movie looks like a pile of stink. Agreed there will probably be no references to Goldsmith's theme but in a way it is understandable, as Goldsmith's theme just was never as iconic as the Mission Impossible theme.
Save yourselves, but the soundtrack, ignore the movie !
Hmm, the samples didn't show up for me in Chrome...
I just tested that site in Chrome (didn't show up) and Internet Explorer (did work).
I'm guessing you're running an Ad Blocker with Chrome? I disabled it temporarily for that site, and then it appeared, so I presume it thinks that the Flash player for the samples is an advert, lol.
You're not welcome in this town mister - someone get the tar & feathers ready!
Actually those music samples sound very good to me. A bit of flute, bongos & electric harpsichord (probably synthesiser), it can't be easy following Jerry Goldsmith on groovy sixties film music.
It's a Guy Ritchie movie... what exactly did you expect?
Funny, I thought the Sherlock Holmes movies he did looked horrible from the trailers but when I finally got around to watching them I really enjoyed them. Something tells me that whoever makes his trailers picks out the most ridiculous parts thinking that they will help sell the movie more easily. I'm quite looking forward to this movie. Music I don't expect to like much but I'll check it out with an open mind like I always do.

But is was THE theme for fans of the show... unless they imagine that there aren't any left in which case why this movie?
Didn't somebody mention that the U.N.C.L.E. organization isn't formed yet in the film, only coming into being at the end? IF so, we could hear a glimpse of the theme around the end. And if there is a sequel, maybe then. But let's not hold out collective breaths yet.
but the soundtrack,
I tried butting the soundtrack but it broke. Now what? ;-)
The samples intrigue me - a nice retro leaning sound.
An enjoyable companion piece to "Mission Impossible".
And the trailers were very enjoyable for me, too...
I apologize for being so positive.
Big thumbs up! As someone who expected to hate but loved the Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies and soundtracks, I'm looking forward to this one as well.
Spot on. Daniel Pemberton wrote some great spy music for The Game, and judging from the samples his new score for this film will hit the spot very nicely. I enjoyed The 60s series as a kid, but looking at it now it's much like the 60s Batman - very much of its time. And didn't STTMP take a different musical direction from STTOS, yet some people seem to prefer it.
