It would be fantastic to be able to release any of these titles

Erode Il Grande - Carlo Savina
La Spada E la Croce - Roberto Nicolosi
La Donna dei Faraoni - Giovanni Fusco
Il Sepolcro dei Re - Giovanni Fusco
I Sette Gladiatori - Marcello Giombini
Il Conquistatore di Corinto - Carlo Innocenzi

All these soundtracks are exceptional.

Stefan, on a tangent, I've only seen the youtube excerpt below (which I like) so I was wondering if there was alot of music in "Messalina" (aka Affairs of Messalina)? Is the recording lost?

Yes, there are about 40-50 minutes of music in MESSALINA. The complete movie is also on Youtube and the music is great, particularly the gorgeous Finale - see the link below.
Of course, all the earlier Rossellini scores before the mid-50s are more or less lost. So we are really lucky that CAM had at least preserved some of the later scores for which they had the rights. And the two scores on our double CD are really the very last ones by Rossellini available in the CAM catalogue. They don´t have anything else by Rossellini anymore. So unfortunately our Saimel double disc will certainly be the last Rossellini soundtrack CD for a long time.
Unfortunately, also VANINA VANINI which was one of the first CAM LPs in 1961 - and which is a particular favourite of mine! - has not been preserved at Sugar or formerly at CAM because they were not the real music publisher. Today, VANINA VANINI is owned by Universal Music Publishing where the complete RCA archive resides, but also there is nothing anymore by Rossellini. Also not his VIVA L´ITALIA from 1960 which had formerly been released on a rare RCA LP. No tapes anymore!
So it is a very difficult task to rescue the Rossellini material. I would be the first one who would do everything what could be done to release those old Rossellini scores, but we can only work with what is still available nowadays and what has survived throughout all these decades.

There's La Donna del Lago that GDM might release outside of Itunes, but I kind of gave up.

LA DONNA DEL LAGO from 1965 is the only Rossellini score which exists in the RCA archives nowadays. So the GDM digital download came from there, not from their General Music archives. And GDM will certainly not release this score - by the way a rather untypical film score by Rossellini, also his very last one which he did probably as a favour to his son Franco Rossellini who was the director of the movie - on a physical CD.

In the next days we'll put samples of this music so you can heard it.
Il magistrato is a dramatic music, but Difendo il mio amore is more melodic.
I think this CD will be a nice surprise for all fans of cinema music.

Thanks. I'm also looking for the Rustichelli score from the late 50s. I think Stefan mentionned that 1958 L'uomo di paglia and 1959 Un maledetto imbroglio are lost, so we can remove that. There are quite a few titles, so it depends if it's Adventure or pure Drama. But most of these seem obscure, perhaps except for 1958 La mina and especially 1956 Il ferroviere, but that's probably too early.

Rustichelli new Saimel production is "L'uomo dai calzoni corti", a very beautiful soundtrack of a curious film of 1958.
We have recovered and restored all the master, with more than 50 minutes of music.

The complete film in the original Italian version is on Youtube. You can for example listen to the main theme at minute 3:18 of this clip:

Many thanks for the video Stefan.
It's an extraordinary music. The typical sound of Rustichelli is more than appreciable. A real wonder. I'm surprised that there was no previous edition of the 50-60s in the form of EP. CAM published many issues of Rustichelli and of course that this UOMO DEI CALZONI CORTI is for me one of the highlights of his work.

Yes, as with Lavagnino, I have myself a preference for older scores (pre-64), especially since these composers really stand out for Drama and Adventure movies.

I also have a great interest in the works of Lavagnino and Rustichelli pre-1964.
I believe that 2017 we'll be produce in Saimel some titles of this period.
When we have titles and dates we'll announce at this forum.

I followed Stefan suggestion and purchased the LP of Vinina Vanina. Wow! what a strong piece of music!!! It is very much a single 30 minute orchestral symphonic poem. By far my favourite Rossellini so far, though I've yet to hear the new Saimel release.

Since no more tapes survive from Rossellini it would be great to see a release made using vinyl as source.

Would love to hear Vinina Vanina and even better if it could be coupled along with another title.

I have checked all samples of Il magistrato and they work correctly.
I don't know what is the problem is, why some of you cann't hear them.
I will check on other computers that it works correctly.
