Does anyone know how long before this thing goes up for ordering at Intrada and similar sites?

It goes up about the same time as it goes up on the La-La Land website. So in about 3 hours.

I couldnt believe they left out the gorgeous choral music for the finale. I presume it's finally included in this expanded release. Cant remember anything else byond the main titles theme, which is quite good.

Looking forward to Alien 4 as well (that's the on-topic bit done smile)

Re Alien 3 - I would love an expansion of that if only for the end titles. There is a part in there where the music builds to a crescendo before coming crashing down (yea my terminology sucks) which I have always loved but it is nowhere on the existing album - hence I have the end credits music ripped from the DVD, but I would love a proper release of it.

The film is dreadful and the score leaves me cold. Pure tedium. the original 45 mins album was bad enough. Am amazed this one gets a special release.

I actually think the film is pretty good, if you look at it as a straightforward Jeunet film; a dark, burlesque comedy-kind of thing. However, it's not a very good ALIEN film, IMO. It drains the required seriousness and reality out of the established universe.

I think Frizzel's score is pretty good in context too....brilliant action/suspense writing, such as the famous swimming cue or the haunting, slightly atonal requiem for the first Ripley clones (which is also the sleazy main titles theme). It just doesn't work alone, and most certainly not in an expanded format.

Back when the film came out, I hated it. Then when I revisited it in the Alien Quadrilogy, I still hated it. But I did always enjoy the score and I bought the original soundtrack in '97. Yet...I haven't listened to it since, whereas I've listened to Aliens and Alien 3 multiple times over the years. For some reason it just doesn't stick with me, but I do think it's a solid score for the genre that serves the film well.

I have NOT seen this film, but I plan on buying it from Dark Del. for the upcoming signing. So sounds like I need to rent this one for sure, right?

Yes, definitely. It was fascinating seeing Jeunet's "take" on the Alien mythos. Perhaps not what everyone was expecting but at least the film had a cohesive vision to it (IMHO), and I also found it scary in parts, which is what Alien movies are about, if for nothing else.

I agree with all of this except one thing - I've listened to this score A TON since it came out. If you like your action writing unabashed in the full-force Jerry Goldsmith fashion of the 80s, then Alien Resurrection is what you need.
