Ordered!

01 Wild Braces (Film Version)
02 The Worm (Film Version)
03 The Visitor (without choir)
04 The Smoke (without choir)

So are all four of the above basically the same as the album versions but without the choir? (Haven't seen the film in a while, but I could swear the choir was heard in the braces scene.)

It does make more sense to wait until the CDs are pressed before you start taking money for something, doesn't it?

Nah, I don't think so.

If a label is silent about upcoming releases (as Varèse has been), some people here complain that they should announce what their plans are.
If a label says they'll be announcing new titles on a certain date, some here protest "Why announce an announcement?"
If a label gives clues, some carp "Why not just tell us?"
If a label tells us, but the order date is a week or two away, some grumble "Why can't I pre-order?"
If a label makes pre-orders available, some grouse "Why isn't it available right now?"
Kritzerland's ways seem as good as any to me.

What I like is that all of the labels seem to do it differently so there is some variety. Sometimes I like guessing, other times I like to order it and receive it right away.

The only thing I don't care for is being charged right away when it isn't going to ship right away. There are a few CDs already released that I wanted to buy this week but with the perceived possibility of a sell out for PII, I put them on hold til next pay period. I've missed out on too many releases to wait.

Didn't note the Shipping Later note till ...later. Tad disappointed, but it happens from time to time; not a big deal. ...And it may ship sooner, if it comes in earlier than expected. As to when the charge goes through... Well, that happens from time to time too; not a big deal.

Just checking in on how this is selling. I am becoming more interested with this release. I am wanting to purchase it and play it beside the Intrada and Varese to decide for myself which one is better, but it is going to cost $20 for something I already own twice.

Does he do the pre-order / prepay so that he can get as much money to help pay for finishing the pressing? I would hope the labels are not that close on funds, but it does makes sense. They are not the only label where you have prepay when you pre-oder.

I don't know why it matters. Some labels do pre-orders, some don't. Take it or leave it. The reasons why are irrelevant and I don't see why it's anybody's business. One either wants the CD or doesn't.

Do you want some Cheese with your Whine....

Do you want everyone else to feel sorry for you for some reason?

Ordered! I sold the Varese issue of this one around a year ago because something about it didn't quite sit right with me though I enjoyed Goldsmith's music in the film, so I'm looking forward to giving the score a listen with a new mix and fresh ears.

Ford,

Can you just give it a rest. If anything I expected a post from Bruce Kimmel, since other posters are asking why they have to pay now and have to wait. But, I understand why you are here because BSX also takes prepayment for pre-orders which show up weeks later. I will be placing my order and the true test will be in the sound when I receive the CD. I order my CDs from places that do not charge my account until the item is shipped. Okay, you can go back to your re-recordings now.

Just ordered this because… well, for me, why not? Thanks for putting this out Bruce, I know they can't be easy!

My belief is this will sell out reasonably quick.

So, if you've bought it before but want to decide which is the best one, you could buy it, decide which two you like least and sell those two. I'm sure you'll get the initial cover price.

It's always surprising to find first time Kritzerland buyers...

Isn't it, though? smile

For the people who've somehow avoided buying a Kritzerland title for the last eight years - the wording is pretty clear - we put a ship date and that ship date is usually six weeks from the day it goes up for pre-order. But, you'll also notice it says we usually ship early. What does early mean? In the case of our last release, The Miracle Worker it meant four weeks early. In other cases it's meant three weeks early. Occasionally, it's meant five weeks early, and a few times the discs have shipped the day after pre-orders. It's on a title-by-title basis. The reason I do six weeks ahead can be found in the many complaints about Quartet just missing a shipping date for the first time. One never knows what's going to happen so I give Kritzerland breathing room. It's that simple.

As to being charged right away, well, that's the way Paypal works and Paypal is what we do. It is not our decision, it's theirs and that's the way it is - if you order from SAE or anywhere else and choose their Paypal option, as I do, you will be charged right away, even if it's a pre-order.

Apparently none of the people asking why we do this has ever ordered a Varese Sarabande club title directly from Varese. They never have stock at the time of pre-orders. The comment about us doing it this way to pay for the pressing is not worth dignifying, but please go into a Varese Sarabande thread and ask the same thing.

My advice is to skip it - you've already made up your mind about which you like best - you've already posted that you're perfectly happy with the previous releases. Anyone who is perfectly happy will be fine with what they own. I was not perfectly happy with the sound on either of the previous expanded releases - each for different reasons. I wanted to do this because the other expanded releases were not complete and because I believed we could make it sound better - I think we've definitely done that and not just insignificantly, but that, of course, is personal taste.

Ordered. I have the Varese release and can't wait to get this release from the fine folks at Kritzerland..

Sarge:

The Preminger at Fox set is really nice. I just finished listening to it for the first time last night.
I am amazed at the sound quality on this set.

If people don't want to pay up front for a Kritzerland release and then wait for it to ship, just order from SAE using a credit card. Payment is not taken until the item ships. There's more than one retailer for Kritzerland product, just choose the one that suits you. It's so easy smile

Exactly. The upside of ordering through us, of course, is getting the CDs before you'll get them from the other retailers - because the other retailers' copies ship the same day as we ship our own site orders, so there's always at least a three-day lag time depending on how they want theirs shipped and whatever time it takes to turn theirs around.

Perfect. I think everyone who's been following your posts in the few months since you've been here knows that had this very same release with the very same new program and sound been trumpeted in the very same way by either Intrada or Varese you would have ordered without question and then raved about it immediately. But I'm thrilled that your record of not buying our releases is unsullied. Now if we could only get you to make that record transfer over to posting in our threads, that would be wonderful smile
