I miss the days of Yor when this unreasonable level of vitriol was at least accompanied by a funny picture.

Not sure how anybody can be so angry about anything as some people on this board are about Zimmer. Ya gotta live ya life, I guess.

That's the thing. Most of us have lives. Others show up in threads like this with the same old tired bullshit.

Vitriol is a strong term.
I have not seen anything harsh or angry here.

Really? Now we're complaining about how much Hans Zimmer speaks? Look I'm not a huge Zimmer fan either as far as his music is concerned but to whine about this is ridiculous.

First of all how much an artist talks about what they do is vastly dependent on the personality of the artist. From what I've heard and read about Hans Zimmer, he's a very charming, pleasant, gregarious person. He likes talking about what he does. Thats ok. Is it self promotion? Somewhat maybe but so what. He doesn't give the impression of being snooty a raging ego maniac.

Secondly this notion that "great artist don't talk about what they do" is dead wrong and inane. Some artists you can't freakin shut up. Composer, writers, painters and many others in the past and present talk about what they do. This is more of a matter of personality and personal preference rather than the relative skills of the artist. Is James Horner a better composer simply because he doesn't talk as much? NO. Maybe he's just not comfortable talking. And if he did talk we'd rake him over the coals about the plagiarism or his pseudo British accent or how he combs his hair.

Thirdly it seems so disingenuous for us to complain about this. We are a group who are constantly starving to hear ANYTHING from ANY composer.

It is that simple.

I am not starving to hear anything from any composer.

Then it's not as obvious an opinion as you think it is when you're clearly in the minority.

I hear you. Zimmer and Daniel Craig-as-James Bond threads are always ruined on this board. It's SO god damned old and tiresome.

Must say I think Zimmer could take a page out of John Williams book in how he discusses his projects - but then I'm projecting my ideal world.....gotta stop doing that.
