You know, there are laws against age-discrimination, you know.

If one of these releases is indeed RETURN TO OZ, I think that particular score transcends any era of film music.

Heh, noone's stopping you from enjoying these two... Silicon Age and Zirconia Age soundtracks.
Or maybe the Tin Age, for those tin ears.

Totally. I have been making the most amazing playlists with all this stuff. Like a never-ending mix tape.

I so hope it's Dredd for the first one.

However, were the film and album tracks really recorded seperately???

It happened all the time in the '50s and '60s, and even into the '70s. And if it is Judge Dredd, it wouldn't be the last time an Alan Silvestri score started recording in London and finished in Hollywood (The Mummy Returns).

Doug:
I honestly think it's one of the most exciting pair of releases we've brought to you in a long time.

Man, I would have thought "The Car" and "Duel" jsut a few weeks ago would have been one, but I guess not. Somebody wants to be chased by a possessed car and deranged trucker with a truck marked "Flammable" that doesn't explode.

"Return to Oz" was just released on blu through the Disney Movie Club, so the timing seems right. If so, this is an awesome surprise and an instant buy for me, as this is my all-time favorite score.

I'll take Back To The Future Part II and Conan The Destroyer completely any time. But if I were a releasing company, I'd put that Silvestri score out towards the end of the year. If my memory serves me correctly, Marty McFly's travel dates are October/November, no?
Either way, these 80s and 90s releases are right up my alley.

What's the case with Judge Dredd (if this is the release coming), was part of it recorded in London, and the rest in US, or was the score recorded "twice" (as mentioned in the clues), both in London and US, meaning there's 2 separate recordings of the entire thing,or ?

CONAN looks a lock for the second.

I don't see how the summer of 1984 (when Conan The Destroyer was released in the US) could count as the middle of the 1980s.

Huh?

"Huh?"
----------------
Yes indeed smile

I thought - as I posted - Conan the Destroyer was a 1985 release...and we all know Intrada have it forthcoming on their schedule.
I didn't know the original issue of OZ was missing percussion and stuff, so now I think - like many others - it will be the David Shire score.
It's a guessing game...all part of the fun.
Why so serious? wink

Conan The Destroyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-LP mix did not omit sweeteners

STARSHIP TROOPERS, 2 CDs (1997)??????

-That's from 1997, not 1995
-Varese owns the rights in perpetuity
-It was not recorded in both London and LA
-The music on the OST CD was not recorded in London

I so hope it's Dredd for the first one.
However, were the film and album tracks really recorded seperately???

The score used in the film was recorded in LA with the AFM. The music on the OST CD was recorded by the Sinfonia of London.

90's Waterworld

-Was not recorded in both London and LA
-The music on the OST CD was not recorded in London

80's Rambo First Blood part 2

-LP mix did not omit sweeteners

I hope it's Back To The Future II...it IS 2015 after all....

-That's from 1989, not 1985
-The LP mix did not omit sweeteners
-The complete score easily fits on one disc

I think we can safely say it'll be Oz and Dredd.

My wallet sure dreads this...
