I watched the original Salem's Lot ages ago - must be 25 years at least. I have no recollection of the music. I do recall a few older Harry Sukman scores from the 1960s, like Around the World Under the Sea and The Private Navy of Sgt O'Farrell (OH, THAT FILM: OUCH!) - and vaguely too. Unless I'm much mistaken there was an LP of "Around the World" that a friend of mine had, struck me as a bit Max Steiner-ish. But it's a vague memory at best. Is Salem's Lot better?

It's got alittle of everything, but does have a TV movie "feel" to it. Some Dies Irae, a TV movie action theme, dramatic organ music, creepy cues (some reminiscent of Robert Cobert), and a gentle love theme that reminds me of Paul Misraki or Delerue (speaking of which, where's "Something Wicked this way Comes"?). I didnt know it all added up to a Herrmann homage. While not my holy grail, I'll be ordering it when the cock crows on the 15th. Child of the 70s. Portions of Delerue's Something Wicked This Way Comes were released by Universal France, totalling about 30 mins or so. I've actually just ordered this release, but I gather than many were less than satisfied with it and hoped for another label to do it properly. Chris.
