I prefer the facts, but I'll give it a rest.

Happy new year, A&C. wink

If you missed out, MovieMusic.com has six copies in stock.

All six are gone now.

The way I see it, we the collectors now have an allbum of Slipstream that was manufactured to professional standards, and sounds wonderful. It's something that - were it not for Robin's blunder - we would probably never have.

We should be grateful to the man for making a mistake!

I certainly have no problems sleeping at night.

Hey, I'm also grateful for the internet and academy promos.

Thxs, I will. Its one of those scores I purchased bases on the sound samples. Just haven't gotten around to given it a listen yet. embarrassment

It's been going on 3 years since this was issued by Perseverance, albeit for a short time. Will the legal issues on this title ever be cleared up? Any plans for this to be "officially" released? I managed to grab a copy before it got rescinded, and it's a fantastic listen! I wonder what could be missing off the album arrangement as well? wink

I had thought that such issues had been cleared, the CD was made available again and eventual sold out.

Okay, I am bumping this thread to help make my decision. I do not want to talk about this anymore in the Cosmos thread. I would like to know if the legal stuff has been cleared up with this release. If I hear/read proof from a reliable source that everything is okay with this release, I will unseal it again and listen to it. If it is not an "official" release,
then it will be destroyed and no, I will not sell it to anyone.

It is my belief that bootlegs hurt everyone, even the seller, but mostly the composer or who owns the rights.

Won't this original release always be a "bootleg" version regardless of whether the score is now cleared for release or not? So, maybe you need to destroy it anyway?

I know you don't want my opinion but....If the label got a C&D (which they did, yes?) then they did not have the proper licenses to sell the CD's. So the score was not an official release. However you purchased it in good faith believing it was an official release. You are not hurting anyone by playing the CD. Not playing the CD doesn't reimburse the copyright holder. If an official release comes out you can always buy it again. (if that makes you feel better) It's just not that hard of a thing to figure out.

Exactly! Deciding not to play the CD which you already purchased and is in your possession is as about as helpful to the composer or rights holders as clinching your butt cheeks after you've already farted in a crowed elevator.

What a bunch of hooey. "Kim Tong" is obviously just trolling to stir up drama. His whole schtick was tiresome from day one. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Dear Mr. Mitchell,

I am finding that most of the people on this board believe that it is okay to own bootlegs. I have read things like, "Well now I can throw out my coaster/bootleg," every time an old score that has never been release is finally released. I read there was a bootleg of Slipstream, but I never bought it. Then Perseverance releases their CD of Slipstream. From what I have read here the label has had some problems in the past, but this was an official release. After receiving the CD, I read here that the CD rights were not done right to have the CD released. If I remember right Robin was going to try an make it right. Did he?

I am sorry you think I am a troll, this discussion started in the Cosmos thread and so I bumped this thread to have someone answer the question. Why don't you ask your wife (Holly) what she thinks about bootlegs she bought this title, it is posted earlier in this thread. I have already read here what she thinks of this board, that is why she does not post anymore.

Thank you, Miss Kim Tong

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have reread what Lukas said about this release and I still believe/consider that it is a bootleg. One poster writes "Glad I already got mine" and "Grab it while you can folks" and that says a lot about this board and it's members. Lukas even goes on to say it is now a collector's item? It is a bootleg. Later today when I get back from work I will destroy my copy. Some will laugh at me because of my beliefs, but I feel I am doing the right thing. The rest of you will praise it because there is one less copy out there which makes your copy more valuable. I know how you guys think.

How many fingers do we have to snip off and send to Entertainment Film Distributors along with our surrendered copies?

What was the name of that unhinged drama queen that cracked the shits and said he was going to sell every single one of his FSM cd's after Lukas decided to press more copies of Ben-Hur?
