You can burn a CD-R as a backup, too. This is the first time I read that a CD-R is a good way for a backup... I think CD-R's are even more unsafe than a hard drive. The longest living medium to day is a pressed disc I suppose. I completely agree on that, but as it turns out there's still a surprisingly large number of customers who will burn their purchased downloaded copy onto a CD, because in some irrational way, it makes them feel safe, comfortable. As for the "professionally made" booklets, the PDFs can be read in full color on any modern tablet easy-peasy. and even by many multimedia players. I'm fine by that.

Would it be only as download available Iwouldn´t buy it. And, as someone else SHOULD have put it long ago: THAT's just stupid. It's like the dinosaurs would have said after the giant asteroid had hit: I don't want that.

I just got my shipping notice from SAE! They must have wanted to get these out before the hurricane hits. I can't wait! My two copies have also shipped from SAE.

It's funny about SACD. You hear it's not a success, that there's no market for it. Yet every issue of Fanfare brings reviews of dozens of new releases. As in the past, it's the classical market that drives the quest for high fidelity. But the music industry naturally prefers to cater to the pop-loving masses, many of whom do their listening from those pod things through drugstore headphones. I fear that high-quality sources matter little in that market. If the music industry believed they could sell you the same music you already own (largely) all over again in an expensive format, they would be absolutely delighted to do so. But they can't, or haven't been able to, at least not in high enough numbers. Fanfare caters to a very discerning, but very small, market. I know that people who read high-end car magazines disdain the Prius I drive, and readers of gourmet cooking magazines think my pots and pans heat too unevenly for serious cooking. Does this fill me with self-loathing? No. These are not things that are crucial to my life. So by that same token, I really think we should temper our contempt for those pop-loving masses. They like what they like, and it pleases them, and I say good for them.

It's arrived here in Lancashire as well. It sounds tremendous and is packaged beautifully. Wonderful achievement, thanks to all involved in this remarkable release.
