This is my final word on Those Who Disdain The Psycho Score As A Listening Experience.

Thank god, you pompous Born-of-A-Jackass.

BOAJ *does* have a point though: the chilly beauty in the bleakness that is a Herrmann touchstone.

even the final twist? the "other mother" scene? was it a dream? who really did the murders?

I love Hitch's and I like very much Franklin's (a very talented director) sequel.

Herrmann's "Psycho" score is a film music masterpiece. However. as a stand alone listening experience I much prefer Goldsmith masterful "Psycho ll. I rarely ever listen to Herrmann's score, the complete score is far to bleak and somber, great in the film but not for listening to on its own.

but you are comparing the complete Herrmann score vs. a 30-min edit Goldsmith score...

Does anyone remember the scoring sessions story about Goldsmith turning off the picture during one of the death scenes because of the violence? Wasn't it Lila Crane's sword-swallowing trick?

That's the one. He didn't want to keep seeing it over and over as the story goes.

I'm Psyched Out, Too!

The news of this release makes me want to pipe: "I'll get the tomatoes, Mr. Statler!"

This generous, extended release from Intrada has put me in a giving mood. Meg Tilly? It's not much, but would you like to share my toasted cheese sandwich?

Looking forward to hearing more of Goldsmith's intricate weave for the tortured, troubled, fraying fabric of the mind of Norman Bates.

Good news everyone! I didn't think this would happen until around Halloween but I'll gladly have it now. Hopefully, Psycho III isn't too far behind (I have the vinyl but dying for an expanded CD). Psycho IV would be a welcome addition too.

Those of you who know me are fully aware that I'm over here having spasms of delirous happiness at this announcement. The grail of all grails for me has arrived. My favorite score to my favorite film. I'm truly shocked. And blessed. I want to have Intrada's baby.

Not one of my holy grails to be honest, but I'm glad you can mark one off your list smile I'll give this movie a spin again, Meg Tilly is gorgeos in this one.

The main title has that evocative, melancholy quality that I so loved in Searle's The Haunting.

Have not received mine yet, but having seen the movie a lot - some of the tracks I missed the most are:

Expected Gest, the music for the murder scenes (Basement Killing and Tommy's Desth) and Out To Lunch and No Note for the scenes at the diner....

in fact I gess all of the missing music is important, even the short tracks....
