I have not heard about a HiDef release, but that doesn't mean there won't be one.

Mel

Another thing. Will these movies also be released in one of the Hidef formats as well??

I think it's great these films are getting the
treatment they deserve. Mr. Archibald, count me
in for a copy of your book. Will it be ready for
Christmas gift-giving?

Also, could James Fitzpatrick give us an update
on the "El Cid" recording and when the other
70 minutes might be done?

Many Thanks!

It can be ordered now from BearManor Media (you can google their web page) and can be delivered in a couple of weeks. It will hit Amazon and the major distributors about December 1.

I think he stated that the remaining cues are to be recorded next May, and the 3CD (two CDs and an SACD) might be available by next November?

I think he said autumn 2008....november would pretty much be winter, wouldn't it?

In the Northern Hemisphere Winter starts around the 22nd or 23rd December I think, isn't that when the Winter solstice takes place ? However, not everybody agrees with this !

Well, a poster on the Rozsa board asked when the 'El Cid' scoresheets would be available and James replied that they'd be free by May 2008 when the rest of the score could be properly transcribed from shortscore by Nic Raine and he would be finished with it, i.e. it would be in the can.

He said it would be a DVD, but just not WHAT the DVD would be (DVD video, or DVD-Audio or what).

I for one would much prefer a 2 SACD set in a thin case, but silly me for wanting things in the best sound and best shelf space...

Necessary clarification: by "free," you mean unencumbered, not available without monetary compensation.

Necessary clarification: by "free," you mean unencumbered, not available without monetary compensation.

Necessary clarification: your sentence needs punctuation marks around 'available without monetary compensation' to avoid ambiguity.

The definition would be, 'Freed up ...AVAILABLE FOR PERFORMANCE' providing necessary clearances are obtained of course, nothing more.

Just put a few raw audio snippets of the new recording of EL CID onto www.tadlowmusic.com

These are from very obvious and famous cues...rarer ones to follow at a later date...

I'm no expert on EL CID, but I think we have another winner here.

Amazing, if the rest of the score sounds like this, this is going to be the soundtrack event of 2008.

Only a re-recording of Spartacus could match this for significance.

Well, I wasn't going to go off-topic, but now that you did it for me,.....well.....yeah!

P.S.: I've been told the original "Spartacus" masters are in good shape (?) and available. It's one of the imponderables......

Couldn't be much better than this. Brilliant.

The OST had very pronounced trumpet in the descending three note figure at the end of Rodrigo's theme (0.37-0.40 in the 'Prelude' sample) which never really made it to the Munich or NZ performances, but Nic and James have restored this to the forefront. That 'musical orgasm' is SO crucial to the piece, like some arrogant descending swordcut, and it's great to see it done justice at last. And Lucie is SO feeling ...

These clips sound absolutely stupendous. I can hardly wait until the finished product is available. Congratulations Mr. Fitzpatrick on what looks to be another excellent Tadlow production.
