I was on an end of row seat and no-one came up to me to ask me to stop. I only did the one video and didn't do any stills during performance as I preferred to actually pay attention to the music the rest of the time.

What peed me off about this illness is that some internet twat announced "our beloved JW's has died today 23rd at 10.56am". I actually believed it when i 1st saw it. Phew. I'm really glad JW's is on the road to recovery. Pity for the fans who were so eager I'm sure there be others by JW, health comes 1st.

So has anyone actually seen Thomas Newman and Rachel Portman there?
I only heard the rumors regarding Portman but apparently someone took a picture with Newman there.

I only saw Nigel Hess, Ondrej Soukup, Varhan Bauer, Maggie Rodford and Ian McDiarmid.

If anybody saw a guy calling himself Williams, and sporting a small beard and a black turtleneck, relax, that was me.

It was mentioned in the radio broadcast that Thomas Newman was there.

Unfortunately it's because of people like you that people like me have given up going to concerts and in my case the cinema, this insufferably annoying, stupid and thoughtless use of mobile phones, cameras, whatever, it has destroyed my experience and enjoyment so I no longer can cope with the stress. Well done you and others.

I do wish concert venues crack down on those video recording performances. It's incredibly distracting sitting next to someone who is doing it (as I experienced at the Brian Tyler concert). They should be as strict as cinemas are with signs, messages etc. Don't get me wrong, the odd photo in-between performances is fine, but when the music is playing no phones should be capturing anything.

The JW concert was as good as it was going to be without Williams there. The atmosphere was amazing and the LSO played fantastically well. Highlights for me were CE3K, Jaws and Superman. I thought the personal stories from a few of the players was a really nice way to add a personal touch to the connection between Williams and the LSO. I'm so glad I went.

...ET was gorgeous and I could feel my eyes moistening as we approached the climax of the final cue...

I grabbed a video of the entire E.T. suite with my pocket stills camera. The sound's pretty tinny, but I did it so I could study how the musicians play the music smile I won't post it anywhere though as I consider it for private study use.

Doesn’t sound like a hanging offence to me. I think sometimes people build minor personal irritations into much bigger things. A lady once spent the first half of a concert hall performance tapping her reading glasses on her programme in time to the music. When she started again after the interval I wanted to beat her to death with them. If she’d just been waving them in the air it wouldn’t have been so bad because it was the metronomic tapping that annoyed.

If they didn’t prohibit filming at the RAH then a discreet excerpt for private consumption is fair game in my opinion. If you stand up with a video camera and flash unit, that might be considered impolite.

This. And what i was gonna post. I dont mean one clip at a concert but as a rule Too many people are too busy recording their life to savour it.

Funnily enough, I've been coming to that conclusion in myself over the last few years. I did for a while spend too much time recording an experience, and not really experiencing the experience. So I made a decision not to try and record everything but to remember it live. I did that at the James Horner talk back in April 2015. I didn't take any selfies, I just shook the man's hand and thanked him for his work. My memory is good enough at the moment to know that the experience was what counted.

For this LSO concert, the video I took wasn't for sharing or memorizing (it's a pretty tinny sound and the picture shakes quite a bit in places), but for personal study. The rest of the time I was just watching and experiencing the performance, and I won't forget that.

I was thinking (I know), they had a change of concert start heart by opening with STAR WARS Main/End Titles instead of the programmed CE3K suite, I guess to open on more of a high, after the disappointment of Jay Dubya's no-show.
But I think (there I go again) they shoulda opened with The Adventures of Han from the SOLO movie instead.
It's a new piece, it's fast and exhilarating and we get the STAR WARS piece again anyway with the Throne Room track later on.
I really wish 'Williams' People' would talk to me when planning his trips to England and concert programmes.
Things would go much more swimmingly.

I really enjoyed reading Thor thanks, I think you captured the emotional essence of the event. Like Tall Guy after reading it I also would have loved to be there too. The descriptions of the sound of the LSO you provided really resonated with me.
