I need some recommendations for food when we come out to see all of you – Craig and I love Tex-Mex / Mexican food – any of you loco locals can recommend anything that you may think is stellar? EL POLLO LOCO is a chain that has FANTASTIC grilled Mexican chicken, plus other Mexican stuff. Lotsa locations in LA. EL COYOTE was on Beverly in the Hollywood/Miracle Mile-ish area and was molto-famous. I don't know if it is still there. I can't speak to the food since I never went there.

You might want to re-think EL COYOTE. It's on the boycott list after their staff supported Prop. 8. I thought that issue was put to rest after the manager resigned? Anyways, I'd recommend another spot since the giant cockroach I saw at El Coyote the one and only time I've been there has been enough of a reason to stay away!

Also, it's Geoff Zanelli. Not "Geoff Zandelli".

I've eaten twice at El Coyote (both times with FSM message board posters!) and it was fine. Neil

I've eaten twice at El Coyote (both times with FSM message board posters!) and it was fine. Neil I'll offer that a friend says that the food will be great at any Mexican restaurant that has Aztec calendar painted on the wall. I'll also toss out El Tepayac (sp?) but it's a drive away, in East LA, which gets raves from certain types. They're the home of the gi-mongous Hollenbeck burrito. I think they'll even give it to you free if you can eat it all in one sitting. I had one once and it was a whole lotta rice, so I can't recommend it entirely. There's also a different, well known, restaurant at Olympic and Western, but folks raved more about the margaritas than anything. And don't forget Lucy's, across from glamorous Paramount Studios. Again, I never ate there but I hear the glamour of sitting where Linda Ronstadt and Jerry Brown ate is palpable.
