And I wonder how many dentists have got a patient in the chair and said: "Iz it safe?" then said: "Just kidding, I've always wanted to say that! "

Im sure there was a comedy film with that in it.

Maybe not.

In John Waters' Serial Mom (1994), a dental patient is screaming in agony and yells out to his wife, "Help me, Betty, he's worse than the dentist in "Marathon Man!"

That's funny.

I had a mate who went to Germany for his holidays once a few years ago, and he came back with a video camera of all these various German people on supermarket car parks and in bars saying "Escape ist fruitless"; "Wolfgang, Wo bist du?" (From The Dirty Dozen) and "Iz it safe?!"
Was very funny. No disrespect intended, he'd obviously found people who were more than happy to join in for a bit of fun.

I think it was more that the various people in bars and stuff were having a bit of fun at the way they are/were portrayed in old english speaking films - but I tell you havent lived until you've seen a Bavarian barmaid lift up two big beer jugs and say "Is it Safe?!" and burst out laughing, or a kid on a shopping trolley say: "Wolfgang, Wo bist du?!" Very silly indeed but where would we be without our sense of humour.

It says that track by track notes are available up here on the site for this release...I can't find them...anyone?

Ordered mine and am really looking forward to these two wonderful, creepy score.

Michael was a friend, a great teacher, a great composer, and a nice guy.

These are the notes about the movie. The links (on the right hand sidebar) to the music notes and to The Parallax View seem not to be working though.

Hey Miggy, to get myself amped up for the soundtrack (arriving in my mailbox today I think), I watched Marathon Man this weekend (only my second viewing). Man, what a friggin' masterpiece. There are SO many great scenes. It's brilliantly shot and edited, and I tell ya, the bathroom scene when the thugs are whispering in the other room and then try to get through the door...that was horror film material! Also, two of my favorite actors, William Devane and Roy Scheider, were perfect. There really isn't a bad thing I can say about this film. Just exceptional in every way, and Small's score was such an important part. I love that theme that first plays when Szell arrives. Scrumptious.

when the mailman came today i asked him if he had a package for me- i did not say 'is it safe'.
needless to say MMAN is now SAFE on my shelf,SAFELY nestled between FAREWELL MY LOVELY & SERPICO.

Howzzaboutit!

Well done FSM for two scores to legendary films.

I just looked again at the 'Parallax Test' to remind myself, because I don't remember thinking about the music. This time I kept seeing those Marvel Comics Thor images with 'ME' after each one.

ME-THOR-ME-THOR-ME-THOR-ME-THOR-ME-THOR-ME-THOR-ME-THOR .......

And I felt strangely at home.

My favourite image is always the end sequence with the buggy that just crashes into the table pathetically. An amazing film.
