Well, FINALLY, we've been waitin' with (un)baited breath for your brilliantly belated arrival, Bill-ster.

And, aye, as a (MMoT) Major Minority of Three, we really like the noo title, as we feel it's one of the most poetic and evocative ever - not dumbed down or insulting the audience's intelligence that everything has to be insultingly spelled out

(or even make immediate sense - which it does considering Bond's healing from Vesper's non-virtue) ...

This One's for JaSe Department:

We said we had a particular British actress in mind who oughta be in Bond pictures - and here the lovely lass is ...

TAMZIN OUTHWAITE.

We suspect most of our British brethren are more familiar with her than those of us Stateside,

but we first caught her sultry sexiness in an ep of the Robert Vaughn "Hustle" series a coupla years ago on American Movie Classics (which ain't anymore the way they butcher 'em with kamikaze kommercials).

Incendiary intelligence and sexy sensuality,

SHE'S the one we most like to see in Bondage ... wink

We blast off

With Tsai Chin as the treacherous vixen who gave Bond “very best duck”

And here’s a nifty 'lil tidbit in that Ms. Chin also belongs to that select Two Times Inna Bond Film brigade because she also appears as Madame Wu

in CASINO ROYALE. Tomorrows

(and yesteryears) Never Die, apparently wink

When I saw the post at first, not having seen the recent "Casino Royale" I had thought you meant she was a two-timer in having appeared in the 60s "Casino Royale" (which two women in the 60s Bond realm, Ursula Andress and Angela Scoular did. BTW, I presume that in going to YOLT, you've chosen to skip over the women who graced that effort?) smile. Interesting that a Bond girl from the distant past returned to the fold four decades later!

And a reminder neo, that the screen-cap feature that is being utilized so ably in the UNCLE thread can always be utilized in this one upon request. wink

Gracias, compadre (and we're kinda overdosin' with humble hubris we came up with a Bondian fact the Expert even you are wasn't aware of. Hotchachacha!) big grin

Actually, twasn't our conscious intention to overlook that other "Casino", but we're gonna stay situated on the Official version (tho we will include NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN, as it's as OFFICIAL as it gets, if you catch our Great Scot drift).

And, yeah, give us time (and updated equipment) - technologically, we oft-times feel like an Immortal Amishman wink - but we profoundly appreciated the generosity of shared spirit ... smile

O, Uuuuu Kissy Department:

as Kissy Suzuki was the The Good Girl (rather than the Sacrificial Lamb or Femme Fatale)

And was perhaps best noted for her character’s staunch refusal to become a Bond-mate (“This is business!”) till literally the last frame (tho our gleefully ever-watchful Lois had other thoughts about that!) .

We recall a story circulating at the time that the roles she and Akiko Wakabayashi had were ultimately transplanted in that the former was originally cast as Aki but her difficulty with English made the producers switch choices.

Evidently, (the Bond back-story has it), Miss Hama suffered serious loss of face (the cardinal Japanese sin) and threatened to commit suicide – which is when the producers had the brainstorm of having her do the less-linguistic Kissy.

Whether the tale is actually accurate we’ve never been able to authentically ascertain, but one thing’s for certain: her beauty

needs no words (which can be utterly worthless sometimes).

Whatever the original behind-the-scenes circumstances, she acquitted herself quite well

and remains one of the most picturesque ladies to adorn the Bond brigade

For TeeGee and CAT - Part Uno ... smile

I prefer Aki over Kissy...never cared for her chilly character and that puppy dog hairdo...

I tended to prefer Kissy to Aki myself. wink

Both actresses are also familiar faces to fans of the Toho kaiju monster flicks. Mie Hama became the Japanese Fay Wray in "King Kong vs. Godzilla", carried by Kong to the top of the Diet Building, and was the treacherous "Madame X" in "King Kong vs. Escapes" (showing how she'd gained in confidence post-YOLT), while Akkio is the amnesia suffering princess in "Ghidrah, The Three Headed Monster" (featuring Godzilla, Rodan and Mothra as well).

Hay, hold on to that First Edition, Meester Marshall, it just might subsidize that royal retirement chateau in the South of France you've had your eye for quite some time. big grin

Oh, and Eric-San,

Enlighten (us and, by extension, FSM's Bond Assemblage) as to what are the generally specific (or, if you're really feelin' Bondian Bold) specifically general qualities that fuel your preference for Mie having F.P.P. (First Preferential Place)?

(Mind u, don't get us wrongly write:

"We love them both". wink)

My judgment is probably affected a bit more by the aforementioned kaiju movies the two actresses were in, and in that realm, Mie Hama made a much bigger impression in her efforts there, which made her more interesting to watch on-screen in YOLT (of course she was also helped in her costuming) smile

Unfortunately, only the original hardcover versions are really valuable; esp. the Brit. editions.

The Bauman Books list on the back of the NYT book review lists titles with some some reularity. Usually, low four figures.

Now, as for

she’s hardly (in fact, nowhere near) Luciana’s lethal Fiona and doesn’t really register as particularly memorable.

She has her own general appeal (and isn’t above indulging in a quality quickie before returning to the business of being a baddie)

All in all, she’s right nice to look at

but aside from that (and her particularly tasty death scene)

we’re glad she had the world-wide Bond-showcase she did,

and hope the rest of her career went equally well

They were certainly asking her to be a Fiona knock-off, but I think she managed to acquit herself well, given the way the part was written. In fact, Bond's line to her, "The things I do for England." recycled a line he delivered to Fiona in the same scenario but was cut from the film (but which still can be seen in the Thunderball trailer).

Karin also brightened the proceedings of Hitchcock's "Topaz", and managed to have a death scene even more memorable than her one in YOLT.

Ah, HooRaq, what would wee dew without your charmin' completist inspirations?! (We weren't aware of that lovely "England" line being born even earlier). wink

And we also totally forgot about her

in TOPAZ.

Incidentally, by no means were we bitchin' about her (especially compared to some of the insults to the female species during Moore's underwhelming era).

She doth do quite well (for all she's allowed to do) ...

I prefer Aki over Kissy...

Although comparisons are odious, I have to agree. A tough choice, but there's just something about her...
