Mission: Impossible, Season 4 also announced for May 13.

2008 is looking every bit as good as 2007 in terms of classic TV releases.

Should be receieving Five-O S3 tomorrow.

Oh, my dear Zelig,

Next stop: San Cristobal with El Lider on May 13!!!

Yours,

Vincente Bravo

The lime will be most bitter...wink

Meanwhile:

"Goodbye, Townshend."

"Goodbye, Simpson."

The good news. Universal may FINALLY get around to doing Season 2 of "Night Gallery."

The bad news. We still have to wait until Halloween.

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Night-Gallery-Season-2-Rumors/8865

I suspect that this timing is designed to coincide as well with the annual release of the next season of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" which has had it's second and third seasons released at Halloween 2006 and Halloween 2007.

Universal resurrected two "one and done" titles from 2005 last year with "Hardy Boys" and "Baa Baa Black Sheep". Let's hope that if "Night Gallery" gets resurrected from that oblivion that "Dragnet" and "Adam-12" aren't too far around the corner!!

How unrealistic is it that I want Coronet Blue?

That would depend on who the rightsholder is, and based on the imdb entry I wouldn't know who controls Plautus Productions and their holdings today.

I just found out that it is owned by Paramount, so I guess we'll never see a legitimate release of Coronet Blue.

Paramount is the best studio for getting classic TV out, but I've yet to see them tackle a short-lived series of any kind. Short-lived Universal series stand a better chance of making it nowadays.

Really?? Like what? Apparently none are of interest to me, because I just checked what I have, and none of them are Paramount.

Of late I'm seeing more Paramount releases than any other studio:

Mission: Impossible
Hawaii Five-O
The Fugitive
Love, American Style
The Odd Couple
The Untouchables
The Streets Of San Francisco
The Invaders (later this year)
Gunsmoke
Happy Days

The only Paramount series I want more of that's been in limbo for a long time is "Taxi".

Thanks. Only The Fugitive appeals in that list, so that must be why their output has escaped me. Oh well, there's always hope.

That only applies to soundtracks. :-)

Any short-lived series will eventually
get the dvd treatment, by any studio.
When the well starts to run dry as
far as shows that ran longer than
3 or 4 seasons, the studios will
have nothing left to release, where
tv land is concerned. I'm convinced
we'll start to see one-season-only
shows like LONGSTREET, THE MAGICIAN,
THE IMMORTAL - all owned by Paramount;
and THE SIXTH SENSE, GET CHRISTIE LOVE -
owned by Universal; SEARCH and HARRY O -
(2 seasons) owned by Warner Bros. It's
just going to take a while longer before
we see this happen. Give it another 2 or
3 years.

I just went to Amazon and they offered the pre-order for the first two seasons of "I Spy" at this stage.
The season 1 set has one review that you can read:

Those who were planning on getting the second half of "Route 66's" first season, released this week might want to reconsider that. The company for reasons known only to themselves have released those episodes in a fake widescreen format, thus chopping off the heads of the actors in numerous scenes.

See the cover art of the DVD:

While it's the same old art from the initial Image DVD release, the fact that it's only $15 per season (!) totally takes the sting out of double-dipping here.

While it's the same old art from the initial Image DVD release,

It's not the same old art. It's been
modified. The title now has bullet lines
tearing through the lettering. The
position of the silhouette shooter
is different, and there is now
outlines of a map behind Culp
and Cosby.
