UBANGI ISLAND (1980) Action/Adventure pot boiler sequel about a free-lance hunter (Jim Brown) and his French paleoentologist sidekick (Jean-Louis Trintignant) as they discover a lost culture of albino aboriginals while attempting to locate a legendary purple ruby. Patrick McGoohan, Joanna Cassidy, Kenneth Gampu, George Harris, Bryan Brown, and John Savage as "Greene"

Long overdue, Max! I count UBANGI GOLD as one of my favorites of yours in this thread. Most kids my age gushed over Raiders of the Lost Ark, but my heart was firmly with this production.

UBANGI GOLD embodies the spirit of bad 1970's "C-movie" entertainment. I always look to DOC SAVAGE: THE MAN OF BRONZE as my holy grail of these movies, but UBANGI is now seeming more real to me every day now smile

Love the "Native New Yorkers" in this film set in Baltimore. Sounds like a Barry Levinson film to me.

Welcome aboard. I can't figure out for the life of me why only five or six people contribute to this vigorously life-affirming, employment-providing thread.

The Monkees must've been desperate to reform just for this trainwreck. Was this when Boyce and Hart replaced Tork and Nesmith? Is it even worth answering?*

*Yes.

Good question! Actually, this clunker was filmed in 1968 but not released until 1972 due to some disagreements among the production team. Seems the lawyers got involved because of similarities with an actual family!
