Also taken directly from the film is a track with dialogue and underscore that is in the 1973 Warner Bros. Records 3-LP set "Fifty Years of Film - Great Scenes and Stars from Warner Bros. Classics." The track has dialogue by John Wayne and Michael Pate.
Much finger pointing at the Batjac and John Wayne estate here.
at one time, they planted on doing some soundtrack albums starting with the High and themighty. They found, they do NOT own complete rights tothe music. What the problem is, I don't know.
The music is recorded for the batjac fims but most seem to be recorded with the Warner Bros Orchestra on the Warneres soundstage - Hondon, Island in the sky, High andthe mIghty, Trackof the Cat.
I would hope that all four of those Batjac scores would exist, at the very least, as mono mixdowns at Warners. Lukas would be the one to ask about that. However, the Batjac connection would probably even make that possibility a real flaming hoop to jump through, with even less rewards with the current thinning of the golden age market.
