I was going to answer you, but I think I'll wait for a bit and respond later. wink

Why do they always have issues releasing the Fringe albums when they initially say they'll be able to? Only the season 3 album came out on the original date announced. I've read it has to do with artwork, but that doesn't make sense to me. (Then again, it does. The season 3 album had an almost identical set of photos on the back as those on the back of the season's DVD/Blu-ray cover. Season 4 had completely different photos. Maybe art is the issue.)

More info here (Starting with post #8)....

It's not looking good for the June 11 release date. On Varése's website they don't have artwork or any tracks listed. I'm a little anxious for this release but I think it's going to get pushed back again. frown

Imagine my excitement when a calendar reminder went off on my phone that the FRINGE Season 5 soundtrack release date had finally arrived. I quickly went to Amazon to order it, but low and behold the release date had been changed from May 7, 2013 to June 11, 2013. How is it that they can have the FRINGE Complete Fifth Season on blu-ray with 572 minutes of video and audio, special features and bonus material available already but Varese Sarabande can't manage to release a CD with less than 80 minutes of music on time? I wouldn't be surprised if the MP3 album is several weeks behind the physical release again as well. Grrr. You task me Varese! You task me!! Sorry, I needed to vent... :/

Oh, I don't think it's Varese's fault at all!

I'd guess by the time the page on their site went up they'd already mastered the CD, and now it's just been sitting waiting for Abrams and whoever else to sign off on it. And he's kinda busy.

Jason, Ha ha. Sure....I might be more inclined to believe you if I had not observed (and to use FRINGE vernacular) "The Pattern" with Varese Sarabande. They seem to be habitually late with their releases which would indicate it's not a problem with one particular person or studio. But in fairness and in order to avoid speculation, I've sent an email to their customer service department to see if they can shed some light on this issue. I eagerly await their reply. smile

Here is the light beaming down upon you:

WBTV tends to take a long time approving artwork (live action division). It happened with us on Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles (2 months past original release date), The Flash (8 months past original release date), and Human Target (3 months past original release date). They are methodical and do not like to rush the process.

So, cut Varese some slack.

Cutting labels slack really isn't in the spirit of this board (unless they post here and read what you're saying about them, of course).

Thanks for the insight. I wasn't trying to be critical of Varése. I'm just anxious for this release and I like Chris Tilton's work on this series. I just don't understand why it takes so long because the artwork has always been the same as the DVD's?

The Flash (8 months past original release date),

They caused you to be 8 months late on that? Wow that's kind of insane. I guess they already have your money up front so there isn't a huge incentive to get it down quickly on their part.

Ridiculous.

Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll come out sometime before the Observers invade in 2015.

In this day and age, I've never understood why they spend so much time choosing which pictures to put on album art. Is there anyone who cares about what photo of John Noble eating a sandwich they decide to use? Personally, I don't get it. Just put the poster on the front and move on. I don't even look at the artwork. I just hit play on iTunes or my phone.

Do you remember that scene in Planes, Trains and Automobiles where Steve Martin's boss is looking over the project -- studying it -- and everyone in the room (especially Martin) leans forward every time the boss LOOKS like he is going to say something (but doesn't)?

Yeah, that about sums it up. lol You have my sympathies, amigo.

I hope it's a vegan sandwich!

I thought Walter liked strawberry milkshakes not sandwiches?? LOL!! Seriously, I don't care what photo they use because I want to hear the album not see it. Personally, I could go for a photo of only the beautiful Anna Torv for the artwork. smile

The album was pushed by again to June 25. I guess they didn't like the sandwich John Noble was eating.

Official reply from Varese below:

Hi Adam,

We've had to keep moving the release date of Fringe: Season 5 (now to June 25) due to delays in getting artwork approvals. This is usually the reason our releases are delayed. Hopefully, this will be the last time it is moved. Thanks for your interest!

Cordially,
Todd Turner
