80- and 90-year-olds....these are KIDS!

My money is still on the aforementioned Manuel de Oliveira (104) who -- as Wikipedia says -- is the only filmmaker whose career spans the silent era to the digital era!

He's currently working on a new film - THE CHURCH OF THE DEVIL.

.....with the possible exception of Mickey Rooney, of course.

True -- as far as actors are concerned. Did he direct many films, though?

You should do a 'favourite film score for a Polanski film' thread in his honour. I know how big a fan you are of his.

Kirk Douglas will be 100 if he makes it to the end of 2016, I wouldn't bet against it.

Still a young whippersnapper compared to the seemingly immortal director Manuel de Oliveira, who - at 105 - has a new film coming out this year.

Something tells me 50 or so years from now some of this list will be chuckle at by people living in the future, which is not bad news at all. While there will always be some setbacks there will always be something new with our progressive knowledge to improve. The eternal war of good and evil, progressive and regressive. Misused and handle well, They say now something can't be, but then in the future it can be. On and on we go towards our destiny. But there is something great out there reaching towards us, it is a symbol for all. Just a matter of time. Death is just a limited false illusion for those who are yet to know better.

Ha, the board's pessimist here. Nothing false about death, that's your lot! And good always wins in movies, not so much in real life. And I'm not convinced about people living a lot longer than they do now. Old people now were born in the early part of the last century, they were very active, didn't eat nearly as much sugar or fat as we do now (& generally didn't eat as much).

I remember an interview with George Burns where he said that once he reached age 100 he'd live forever, as very few people die after 100.

80?!? Since when was that old in this day and age?

I was just about to reiterate the status of Portuguese director Manoel de Oliveira, but seems like he passed away in April this year, at age 106. He was active all the way up to his death, though, which is a record that will stand for some time, I think.

Swiss Actor Lukas Ammann is 103 years old now and in good health. People from the german speaking parts of Europe may remember him mostly from the TV series "Graf Yoster gibt sich die Ehre" (1967-1977).

Al Molinaro-"Murray the Cop" in the Classic "Odd Couple" TV series, and "Al" in the Classic "Happy Days" TV series.

Born June 24, 1919. Now 96 years old. Older even than Abe Vigoda! wink
