Great Escape: They were not source music. They were used in the football practice scenes. I'll have to pull out the DVD and watch some of it. Can't decide if I would buy it on Blu-ray, since I seem to have stopped playing it on DVD.

Indeed. It's a holy grail and will be treasured forever, or for as long as heaven allows. Completely agree, and that main theme ... WOW ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDcbQNdSkWM That theme is really perfect. Refresh my memory, please. Joe's soprano sax noodling isn't on the CD, is it? I need to go relisten.

That Dave Grusin score shows how a little music can go a long way. It is a very short score, perfectly used within the context of the movie and very memorable. I was lucky enough to snatch this one when Kritzerland released it, because that score is a real favorite of mine. I really love that score ever since I saw the movie way back in the 1980s. Some time after the Kritzerland, Varèse re-issued it, and that seems to be still available. (Same music as the Kritzerland, booklet might be different, I don't know.)
