This is my absolute favorite Jerry Goldsmith score! Thank you very much FSM for taking the time and effort to restore this score and put it out for lil' ol' me to use it as a drink coaster. Just kidding, I cannot wait to hear it!
Wow, this looks like a great release! OUTLAND is my favorite score by Goldsmith in his "ice cold thriller mode" (though some of the action cues definitely are... hot!). I like this even better than ALIEN (!)
By the way, Thor, that's not a moon in the background - it's Jupiter. The space station, however, is on one of Jupiter's moons. Io, I think.

Ah, that's right, thanks. It's been quite a few years since I saw it.
I'd love to buy this CD, but I'm going to be unable to before I'm paid at the end of the month. How likely is it that there'll still be copies available at the end of the month?

It is a 5,000 Run Back to the Future is still around and Goonies finally sold out at the same # run.
I can't imagine it would sell out that fast... you never know but I am sure FSM and ScreenArchives will give post low qty alerts if needed.
I recall (I hope not falsely) reading an interview with Goldsmith -- I think it was in Starlog magazine back in '88 or '89 -- where he stated that he was not pleased with OUTLAND, for whatever reason (I don't think it specified).
I only recall this because it's always been one of my favorite Goldsmith scores. Certainly I can find nothing wrong with it or the movie.
Yes, Morton did use a bit of Goldsmith's theme, but as I recall his piece really is mostly HIM (bits from his score to THE GREAT WHITE are in it), but I don't seem to recall him using very much of Goldsmith's music beyond a quote of the tune..
Ford A. Thaxton
Ford, I guess this is a matter of some interpretation and I respect your opinion. The cue sheet credit was "adapted by" so we felt it was accurate to use.
Lukas
I have the cue in question on a demo tape Stevens sent me back in 1983 and it is definately based on Goldsmith's motifs, with a Stevens bent on them.
It looks like they received their stock on OUTLAND and started shipping today instead of this Monday, June 14th. My account record in SAE shows my USPS tracking number for that order.
I live in New York City, so, I probably have by Monday (it would be this Saturday, but it’s my work address and the office is closed on the weekends).
Some people will be able to start the work week off nicely with OUTLAND and MAD MAX…THUNDERDOME.
Whoa! I received a double dose in my mailbox today. OUTLAND and MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME. I thank all involved in these first class productions. Please keep them coming! Outstanding sound quality and liner notes. A+ for both.
Great news! I was off-line for nearly two weeks due to a move, and this (as well as LaLaLand's expanded The Edge) was nice to come back to. I still have to hold onto the GNP disc for the album recording of Capricorn One, but still, this is pretty awesome.
Now can we pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaasssssseeeeeeeeeeee get The Secret Of NIMH complete one day?
Oddly enough, XM's Cinemagic was playing Outland today, and I wondered if there was any connection. What little I heard---they're not naming tracks on everything yet, curse them---made me glad I'd ordered a copy.
