THE WALKING DEAD---question-and-answer session with creator Frank Darabont commenting on his firing by AMC:
Q: Have you kept up with the show since your departure? Fans of Kirkman's comic haven't particularly enjoyed its direction since you left.
A: Have not? Well I wouldn't know. Because, for the same reason that if the woman that I loved left me for the Pilates instructor and they sent me an invitation to their wedding, for the same reason I wouldn't go to the wedding, I haven't seen an episode of THE WALKING DEAD since then.
Q: Did you just need to wash your hands of it?
A: Look, I really haven't spoken of this yet – I will, I'll get there – but I had to take some time off after that to really reassess everything, to really get over the emotional devastation of having some truly malevolent people tear asunder a brilliant family that had gathered to create this hit for them. It was a very, very deep and loving family, the cast and the crew, and to have that torn apart was – when somebody throws a hand-grenade into that situation, it's tremendously emotionally trying. So would I want to watch another episode of THE WALKING DEAD after that? Are you f**king kidding me? No, you put that traumatic disappointment behind you and move on with your life.
Q: We interviewed the original cast while reporting our recent cover story, and a number of them –-specifically Lauren Cohan – spoke quite fondly of you.
A: Listen, they're the best group of people in the world, that cast. But my God, how do I put this – sometimes the emotionally difficult things are tricky to say, words can fall short – but I managed to put another family together on MOB CITY that is very meaningful to me. The people I get to work always make the journey worth it."
IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: THE REST OF THE STORY---sequel underway to the classic 1946 Jimmy Stewart/Frank Capra movie. The sequel has the unlikeable grandson of George Bailey being shown by an angel how better the world would be if he had not been born. The angel will be played by Karolyn Grimes who played Zuzu Bailey in the original movie. Jimmy Hawkins (Tommy Bailey) and Carol Coombs (Janie Bailey) are in talks for other roles. Premiere is the holiday season, 2015.
GRACEPOINT---Fox miniseries remake underway of the British series BROADCHURCH in which a female detective and a male detective, who got the promotion she wanted, team up to investigate the mysterious death of a young boy whose body is found on the beach. David Tennant (DOCTOR WHO) returns for the remake with Anna Gunn (BREAKING BAD) and Jacki Weaver (SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK) co-starring.
LIZZIE BORDEN TOOK AN AX---poster released for the Lifetime tv movie about the trial of the infamous Lizzie Borden who was accused of murdering her parents with an ax. Christina Ricci and Billy Campbell star. Premiere is January 25, 2014.
BURYING THE EX---horror movie underway about a possessive, jealous woman who returns from the dead to reclaim her boyfriend from his new girlfriend. Ashley Greene (THE TWILIGHT SAGA), Anton Yelchin (STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS) and Alexandra Daddario (TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D) star. Joe Dante (GREMLINS) is the director.
DESPERADOES---FX six-part miniseries underway based on the novel about the Dalton Gang.
MONTY PYTHON---the five surviving members, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Eric Idle, will have a reunion stage show.
VITALS---horror movie underway about a man and his wife who are being held in an abandoned motel where they are the victims of an organ-harvesting ring. Charlene Amoia (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER), Tim Russ (STAR TREK: VOYAGER) and Claudia Wells (BACK TO THE FUTURE) star.
CONTRACTED---horror movie underway in which a lesbian is despondent after breaking up with her girlfriend and winds up having sex with a guy. She gets a sexually-transmitted disease from her one night stand which is turning her into a zombie.

In other news, I'm embarassed to say that I've never seen IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE.
Stay happy and keep it that way; a terrible saccharin film (same goes for mister X goes to Y). I don't mind moralising films but Capra was able to do it in a way that make me want to punch baby just to restore the balance in the universe.

I wouldn't write it off automatically, just because someone else tells you to. Knowing that you're a Spielberg fan supports the possibility that you'd actually dig it, IMHO.
You might enjoy tracing the origins of other movies like "Back to the Future" in this one.
(I think BTTF Part II contains deliberate references to it.)
I'd certainly be interested in reading your reaction, Thor, as I was to read your honest, informed opinion of classic Star Trek.
I say go for it, then come back and start a new IAWL thread for the holidays.

Re: "THE WALKING DEAD, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE sequel." Yeah, I heard about that. The Christmas episode of "The Walking Dead" will have Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed lookalikes, but, after a bit of suck face they'll tug on each other's perfect face and reveal themselves as the zombies they really are, and a little girl with blonde braids will say "Everytime I hear a bell there's a new zombie!"
