last chance. anyone want to save me from doing something stupid?

I wouldn't if I were you

Save me from spending secondary market prices on a 2CD Cliffhanger? ;-)

How much is it going for in the secondary market? Coz I have a copy that I've used the CD's once, I've read the booklet once and decided that it wasn't for me. I've just never been one for trying to offload CD's.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The FSM set sold out before I could get it - it's a big hole in my JW collection.

Hopefully the new edition features the complete score on disc 1 and the original LP on disc 2!

Well, you know that after it sold out, Lucas found another box of the CDs and offered one for each order of FSM product over $100.

There are 2 used copies on Amazon right now. One is $180, the other is $300.

I can vouch for the $180 copy - it's mine. It's in flawless shape, and (sadly) on the block because I'm unemployed at the moment.

If you're interested, hit me up directly and I can discount this by $30, to $150. Amazon would charge me that much in fees; if we deal direct, I save that much smile

I can be reached at rich.sherrill (at) live.com. (The email in my profile is out-of-date, and the board software won't let me update it)

Cheers!

Rich

Well OzMan is selling a used copy for $40, which is fair compared to other prices, but what's held me back is a $15 markup from a CD that sold out less than 4 years ago. A title that many still want and is only a matter of time before another label re-re-reissues it.

Hopefully, this time will include the film version of, Base Jump, The second half of the CD track uses "Wolves Away."

Well...not the best timing for this, eh? But I can't blame you for trying.

True that, Thor. I just mention it in case anyone here is looking for this. As we all (frustratedly) know, many of these mooted new or reissued scores wind up being "in process" for years before they finally get released.

Amigos...amigos...hold on to your sombreros

I am not confirming anything here. A simple question was asked and a simple answer was given.

Logic dictates that in this day and age a reissue of one of filmdom's greatest composer's work will eventually get a reissue some time in the future. It's just math.

Besides, no cd is worth spending over $100 for unless it's an amazing box set of some sort....especially nowadays when Holy Grail score cds are being released every week

Sorry for causing a stir.

Thanks for clarifying, MV!

Is that clarified? MV didn't say that they weren't releasing it.

Exactly. He's clarifying that his earlier comment was not meant to be a confirmation it's coming.

Its been almost a year since we last hoped it would come. Lets hope that a new remastered edition comes via Intrada or LLL or Quartet label along with the LP version albeit remastered. I'm seeing many copies in the second market and online stores these days. I remember selling mine only 5 years ago (It was a prized possession and had to let it go to due to a financial crunch) It would be great to have this back. Come on you labels..spit it out~

Yes, I really hope a specialty label is working on this score! It deserves to be in print - and I want it in my collection! I missed the FSM release!

Yeah, over 14 years since the FSM release! I can only think that it was easier working with Warner/Fox then, than it is now (maybe they aren't talking to each other these days).

I'm with MV on this one: there's no way I'll ever shell out $100 for an OOP CD. Next thing you know, that title might get a re-mastered edition, and right about that time would come an expensive box set from your favorite TV series.

I missed THE TOWERING INFERNO and THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE the first time around, but then I got LLL's complete edition of THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, including the screen-used vocals of "The Morning After." So that worked out very well, and if TOWERING comes along some day, so much the better.

Well, the first edition did include THE PAPER CHASE and CONRACK too.

With all of the releases, re-releases, and re-re-releases, I'm a bit surprised that this score still hasn't been revisited. It is a John Williams score, after all…

I missed the FSM release, and now that CD goes for some really insane prices (even more insane than the ones quoted in the posts from several years ago above).

Be careful what you wish for. It will most certainly return.... on vinyl.

I guess the main sticking point now is Disney's imminent acquisition of Fox.

This thread is 4 years old & still no Towering is it in the pipeline or not, will it be a straight re release, this is no disrespect to the label but I don't want to own another cd with exactly the same run-time.
