Imagine if you were suddenly in Central Park, at midnight, in 1974, and tell me THAT music wouldn't be playing in your head.

I suppose for most fans here it would be James Horner's "Danger Motif".

Depressing, how much creative impulse has been sucked out of film music today.

To be honest,I suspect that the original Death Wish tracks are more likely to be released by a specialist jazz label. Herbie fans must keep their fingers crossed.

Can you think of another example of this happening?

I can, Onya! "Anatomy of a Murder" expanded appeared on Columbia! Since Herbie Hancock was also on Columbia, an expanded "Death Wish" on Columbia may be possible!

Thanks! I'd forgotten about "Anatomy."

The point I was trying to make is that there aren't too many examples of a jazz artist's primary label licensing film tracks. I guess "Mickey One" would be another example. I think it would be more likely that a film score label would release these, if they are available, but you never know.

Well, La La Land clearly aren't interested. Could Music Box or Kritzerland perhaps take it on?

My quarter is on Bruce being with LLL on Herbie's excellent score. The French have always had a deep respect for jazz artists who have scored films. Perhaps Écoutez le Cinéma (Universal France).

2440 views on this post. I wonder how many of those were from people hoping this would actually become a possible release?

Well it could be that 2400 people have viewed this thread. Or that 24 fans have each opened it 100 times. No way to know.

In 1999, Decca took on John Barry's 'Playing By Heart' when much of it was dumped from the movie by Harvey Weinstein....
