I would love a couple of discs of West Wing scores! A few months ago I started to rewatch the show, of which Kevin Spacey once said that iet paints 'an optimistic, more naive picture of politics'. Although I do not agree about the naive-part (of course I don't) the ideologic approach and optimism is what I need right now . First time I watch it, I wasn't really aware of the music. Now that I'm watching it with sound over my audio system, not using the tv's speakers, the richness of the music stands out. Even in the incidental music, there's a certain depth and orchestral quality that's nice. But stylistically, the scores are all over the place. A patriotic opening, a regal theme (with fantastic horn arrangements!) and a more romantic scoring in between. And after a few episodes, the more comedic end credits start to annoy. Especially after the more darker episodes. Even the the incidental music is uneven: from orchestral underscore to rhythmic foreground. Sometimes it doesn't add up. I'm not sure an more episodic approuch to the cd (as the Star Trek's) will work. That said, there's enough to like. I'd buy it anyway.
