According to imdb, Harry Gregson-Williams and Atticus Ross is scoring Blackhat for director Michael Mann.
So I guess the film is no longer called Cyber, and Goldenthal is no longer scoring it...
As far as I know Goldenthal was never gonna score this one. IMDb isn't the most reliable source for films still in production. Ross has been linked to this project for some time and I believe it was Ford Thaxton who said someone from RC/MV was also involved.
I think both are great composers who's style matches Mann's, but I'll wait until official confirmation before I really get excited
Goldentahl was never officially attached that I know of, but Ross has been on it and done score (if not all of it) for a few months now. Seems Gregson-Williams is a late edition. But we know that Mann tends to plow threw two composers on a number of his films before he settles on one composer.
From reading the title of the post, I thought it was going to be Harry Gregson-Williams and William Ross scoring a Michael Mann project. THAT would be interesting
Both composers are appropriate choices for a new Michael Mann thriller. I'm sure Goldenthal will get some Heat royalties somewhere here too.
After his blazingly cool score for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, I would kill to hear Christopher Drake get a Michael Mann assignment. Here's to the future!
