I saw this for the first time last weekend. Check out the scene at the 50 second mark. My jaw dropped. How close were the actors in getting burnt? Was that a practical effect almost gone terribly wrong? Or one of the most realistic SFX ever filmed?

I noticed that, too, when I watched it. Vaughn nearly got his backside barbecued.
It looked pretty well controlled to me - a small secondary fire-burst was let off just beside the door as it closed, quite apart from the other larger ones in the background. I would imagine, however, that Bob need quite a bit of reassuring before the take!

I just saw another one from an episode of "Miami Vice", yesterday (Red Tape). I assume it was a stunt double for the character Tubbs, but Crockett and Tubbs sjumped out a window and a bomb went off and the glass and fire blew on Tubbs, setting him on fire.
There was another "interesting" stunt in the last MFU episode, though I can't remember it now. I think Hollywood successfully swept stunts gone wrong under the rug until the 80's. Even then I think most never get reported to the media.
