Or - to give it it's full title - "Superman vs. Hollywood: How Fiendish Producers, Devious Directors and Warring Writers Grounded an American Icon", by Jake Rossen. I couldn't find any mention of this book anywhere on these boards, so apologies if I am repeating stuff from elsewhere.... ....but.... ...this book is fantastic. I thought I knew a fair bit about Superman, in pretty-much all incarnations, but this book taught me that I overestimated my knowledge...a lot. Covering Supes in all his forms, starting from Action Comics and concentrating (mostly) on the Radio adaptations and various small and big screen versions (including the failed ones) , it's a cracking read and covers a mind-blowing amount of information, being careful not to get too repetitious of information that is freely available elsewhere. The book was published a year or so after the release of Superman Returns, so Man of Steel etc not covered (though I'd love an updated chapter or two to cover it, if I'm honest). For any fan of the screen incarnations of the Last Son of Krypton, I really can't recommend this book enough. Anyone else come scross this one?
