May I offer some advice to those who are interested....

Before you send a private email to another member going after them for comments they posted on a thread, make sure that you have the right person and that they are indeed the ones who made the comments that pissed you off or offended you. Nothing is more jarring than receiving an email criticizing you for something you posted when you weren't even the one who posted it in the first place.

I am honestly considering taking a permanent posting vacation from FSM. Lurking is beginning to look like a safer alternative.

There are some very highly strung people on this board, that's for sure!

You provide good input to the board. Don't quit posting because of another person's mistake. Stay and play! ??

Welcome to the mental asylum. At least share the email so we can all have a laugh!

So far I've only had the slight annoyance of being contacted by someone of this forum in a negative way once, he was also banned from here, I just blocked him. Life is too short. Hope you continue posting as I like your sagely advice. wink

I was under the impression it is only Board Admin who know our private email addresses. How can a member get hold of it?

Under "Edit Profile" you can add stuff like your email address which other signed in members can read. Though I don't ever list private info like that personally. If ppl want to yell at me they got to do it publicly on here.

Oh I see, thanks. That seems the right idea to me.

edw, I forbid you to leave. We have too few women at FSM. You contribute significantly to this board.

Sorry someone sent you a cranky e mail. I know you were the wrong recipient, but I don't think I'd ever send someone's private e mail a nasty note. I've been mad at a few posters, but I have the courage to write my responses on this board rather than to their private e mails. I think those e mail addresses are to contact someone when we have something positive to share. I used to have my e mail in my profile, but I got too much spam, so when I had to get a new e mail address, I didn't post it.

Hope you didn't spare the "emailer" a savage, written beating!smile

And stick around. No lurking or vacation for you.

Thank you everyone for your supportive words and advice. It was very kind of you. I probably should not have brought this incident up on the board but said email truly caught me off guard. Here it was New Year's Eve and I am getting a lengthy, accusatory email referring to comments that were not even remotely mine or meant in the vein the other member construed them as. Frankly the entire email was bizarre. I foolishly responded to the email, defending myself but only received a terse acknowledgement and no apology. At this point, I am well over it and don't intend to let is chase me from the board. Again, thank you for encouraging me to stay.

Trust me folks, I am not naive and this minor incident has not scarred me smile. What saddens me though is that the author was someone I respected and had developed somewhat of a typical FSM friendship with. 99.9999% of the folks here are stellar and that is why I shall remain. Happy New Year to all.

There are plenty of "little people" in the world. An inability to apologise for a wrong only diminishes them further.

Just FYI, and it might not be the case here, but there have been several occasions where a certain banned FSM member has feigned the identities of various board members and contacted other board members via various off-board venues in order to stir up trouble. You can't make this stuff up!

Glad you're sticking around and Happy New Year. smile

Unfortunately Josh, this is not the case though I wish it were. I know this for a fact. Thank you though and Happy New to you as well!
