I saw the trailer of Mad Max in the theater couple of days ago and I chuckled at how over the top it all looked, but given it's done by the same director/writer of the other movies I am still curious. Maybe this will be the Tom Hardy performance which will let me forgive him for Nemesis?
As for my most anticipated film of 2015, that would be "Cell", as I really liked the book. And if they get it made on time Argento's "The Sandman".
- Knight of Cups (new Terrence Malick) - The Light Between Oceans (the description of it sounds wonderful) - Silence (Scorsese finally realizes Endo's novel about Jesuit priests in Japan) - untitled Cameron Crowe project (last known as Deep Tiki) - Unimachi Diary (new from Kore-edo) - Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (new Ang Lee) - Mistress America (new Noah Baumbach - I'm still waiting for his most recent (While We're Young) to be released!) - That's What I'm Talking About (new Richard Linklater) - The Early Years (new Paolo Sorrentino) - High Rise (Intriguing J.G. Ballard premise) - Spectre (new James Bond!) - Star Wars: The Force Awakens (looks like great fun)
Not certain now whether or not the Coens' Hail Caesar! Feb. 2016 release date will stick, or if it will end up with a 2015 premiere - perhaps at a film fest. Either way, it's the upcoming movie I'm most excited for.
Aside from 2014 stuff I didn't get around to seeing in 2014?
In release order, more or less:
Strange Magic Chappie Cinderella Avengers: Age of Ultron Mad Max: Fury Road Tomorrowland Jurassic World Inside Out Ant-Man Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2: The Green Legend The Jungle Book The Martian The Good Dinosaur Star Wars - Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Neither thread has mentioned SPECTRE yet, so allow me...
You better hope your seat at the Morricone gig in a few weeks ISNT dirxtly under mine matey..... otherwise I might "accidentally" drop something on you for mentioning Spectre.
The only film I absolutely cannot wait for this year is Avengers: Age of Ultron although I'm actually quite curious about Ant Man as well.
Perhaps it's an age thing, or I have just been put off by the prequels, but the new Star Wars just doesn't excite me at all. And that lacklustre teaser trailer didn't help.
FURY ROAD is the first one coming up of the four titles I mentioned. I'm really excited, it looks incredible. I'm a big George Miller fan, and it looks like he pulled it off!
