I have an old LP record of this soundtrack which included a number of Latin anthems - eg Laudata Sia Madonna Poverta - sung by monks of Assisi. It is really beautiful but is an old recording and sounds it!

This is an album I'd like to see released (suitably 'cleaned up') including the anthems. I know selections of the score were released some years ago on CD twinned with 'Dr. Faustus' but this recording did not have the anthems.

Better still, a new recording of this score would be really something.

The problem is that it's not a very good movie, so demand for the score suffers.

Some of those tracks are available on YouTube, taken from the album:

Far be it from me to post any link that would encourage shameless ripping from YouTube via YouTube audio ripping software.

Heavens no.

I just love this guy's epic, amazing work for ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. and WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH, but it's my understanding that most of this guy's music sounds like shit due to awful recordings.

So - For want of expansing my collection of his work - Is there any stuff of his that DOESN'T sound like it was recorded from three miles away via wax cylinder?

Bobbenham: I know what you mean about the bad recordings. Some of the CD reissues made that cavernous sound even worse.

David Charles: Although still not great, the LP reissue from Spain (1980s?), in stereo, is probably the best out there at the moment. The original Fox stereo pressing is very rare, but you might be able to find this reissue.

I love that score too - somewhere I have the lp reissue. Nascimbene seems to be underrated .

I thought that the cd reissue was complete -- too bad it isn't.

Thanks, William. I've listened to the You Tube tracks. They seem a bit clearer than the old LP.
Incidentally it's the old Fox recording that I have.
