Amazon covers are too small and low quality. Surely not all of them. I just ran a little test, and here's the resolution of the covers that I downloaded from Amazon on some randomly selected titles: 1500 x 1500 INTO THE WOODS FURY THE IMITATION GAME NIGHTCRAWLER ST. VINCENT ROSEWATER GONE GIRL PINOCCHIO FANTASIA NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS WHIPLASH BIG HERO 6 JOHN WICK 1425 x 1425 INTERSTELLAR THE HOBBIT: BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES 1248 x 1248 THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING INHERENT VICE 1085 x 1085 UNBROKEN DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES 980 x 980 EDGE OF TOMORROW THE GREAT GATSBY 500 x 500 THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 1 BIRDMAN

Can anyone check if the Album Art Exchange website is working or not? http://www.albumartexchange.com/ Some pages work (e.g. the main Home Page in the link above), but searching for titles no longer brings back any results, and the Log In page throws up an error. I've been using it heavily for the past few days, to get covers of my CD collection, and wonder if I've used up all their monthly bandwidth (I've downloaded about 500 so far). I noticed there's a donation option, which I will do once it's working for me again, as I still need to get more covers from it and it's been a godsend for what I want to do. It's been my first place to go to, and only if I don't find something do I then use Google to see what I can find (with varying degrees of quality). EDIT: Reading the other posts in this thread, I'm accessing it from the UK and had no problems up until today. So, do you buy cd's without covers? Or do you make nice lil' cd's-with cases and artwork from your downloads? Or.....

So, do you buy cd's without covers? Or do you make nice lil' cd's-with cases and artwork from your downloads? Or..... Too big of a backlog to scan. Done all that before, and can't be bothered with with scanning and Photoshopping this time around, unless I can't find a decent one online. It's too time-consuming, and my end results aren't as good. I've already been through LLL and Intrada (etc.) to download what I need, and was then using AAX as I went through my list, and anything I couldn't find on there I then used Google. I want the covers for importing my CDs into iTunes for my iPod... I'm a perfectionist, so won't settle for raw scans or sub-standard quality like some that I find on the internet. Anything I'm left with at the end of this, I'll scan myself. But I'd prefer just be left with maybe a couple of hundred to scan myself, rather than a couple of thousand.

i kinda wish there was a site devoted to the back of lp's so you can see the back. often times i've needed to see the back, but can't. Great site though.

Agreed that you can do pretty well on Google, although you do indeed need to vary your searches sometimes... occasionally writing the title and the composer name works, but sometimes the title and "soundtrack" works better. It can be good for random LP art which is sometimes rather nice to have, especially if it's a re-release that contains the full score plus the original LP programme. On a somewhat related note, does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to find alternate artwork? Sometimes it can be vastly better than the actual artwork or can be a nice fan reworking of the existing art. I know there's a thread for alternates album artwork, but most of them are just pasted into the thread and it's hard to search, sometimes impossible as the titles aren't always mentioned in the text. Would be nice to have a central resource for places where alterante artwork is available.
