My daughter is not fully into film music but loves the movie A.I.: Artificial Intelligence. She located a Promo or FYI copy of this score and wants to buy it. It is not the price that is the issue, it is the question of which promo she should get. One she is looking at apparently comes from DreamWorks Records and the other from Warner Brothers. I was able to look up the Warner Brothers releases in SoundtrackCollector but could not find the DreamWorks release. One DreamWorks has 6 tracks, the other 13. The Warners Brothers release has 13 tracks. I am not sure what to tell her so I thought it best to get info here. I advised her to buy the actual movie release which she is leaning toward. Any advice you can give me on the promo or FYI versions would be appreciated. Found one thing here but it was from 2007.
Thanks.

A CD-R or MP3 of the official release is available on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/I-Artificial-Intelligence-Original-Picture/dp/B00005LLVS/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1425958596&sr=1-1&keywords=artificial+intelligence+soundtrack

It's the same as the original CD, which I own.. it's 13 tracks over an hr of music. It's a great album... I guess I'd recommend that over the promos. (I don't own any, don't have any experience with them)

It's possible this will get a deluxe/complete release one day... but I wouldn't hold out for it when the current version is available for $9-$14.

Wow, I had no idea this problem existed till this moment.

I did some Googling, and I think you're confusing the score to Steven Spielberg's film 'A.I.: Artificial Intelligence" with a band that, in possibly the most confusing choice of all time, seems to have named itself "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence", and then, as if that weren't enough, to have had an album released through DreamWorks Records, one of the two studios that made the film, in 2002, just a year after the film came out. Even MORE confusingly, their album has 13 tracks, the same number as the score album for the film.

The albums you seem to be referring to are these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-I-Artificial-Intelligence-Sampler-Promo-Only-CD-Single-/161626215657
http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-I-Artificial-Intelligence-Promo-Only-CD-DRMF-13933-2-/161611625152

They are some sort of pop music and, just to be clear, have absolutely NOTHING to do with Spielberg's film. I honestly had no idea this band existed, and I can't fathom why DreamWorks Records would have allowed them to use that name, just a year after the film.

As for John Williams's masterpiece score for the film, there are two releases:

The commercial album has 13 tracks - including two songs not included in the film:

http://www.amazon.com/I-Artificial-Intelligence-Original-Picture/dp/B00005LLVS/

The promotional "For Your Consideration" album is SUPER rare, and has two discs, with 11 tracks on the first disc and 18 tracks on the second disc:

One sold a few weeks back:

This site gives a good rundown on the track lengths, etc:

Hopefully a complete score with all cues in chronological order and alternates, is released soon!

By the way, you can see the contents of the 2cd Academy Promo here:

Thor, sometimes i agree with you that not all scores should be released in full, but in this instance, you are wrong, this score needs a proper release, because a lot of fine music is not to be found on the commercial release.

The score from A.I.: Artificial Intelligence contains some of the best and effective moments John Williams wrote for a Spielberg film, along with Schindler's List and CE3K.

An expanded version will come one day or another.

I'm not. I want them to die a slow and painful death.

Thor, although I know your views, the A.I. album is one of the few Williams that's missing a lot, and would benefit much more with a complete presentation.

There is a third release - a single disc promo. Its exactly the same material found on the official street release CD, though.

I will admit that I was confused by the scores released by DreamWorks and did not look too carefully at the content. I was just going off of what my daughter told me and she did not look too closely at the source. Thanks for clarifying.

Thor, I created this thread to assist my kid. Was that necessary?
