I'm getting awfully tired of every western drama being released in sepia tone. Those poor costume designers must really love it!
What would Remington say?
You're not the only one, Ray. I'm enjoyng it, too. However, this is the sort of film that demands vibrant color. Not this bloodless washed-out desaturated look the makers of the miniseries are giving us.
That's "Dash For Timber" painted in 1889. Amon Carter Museum controls it. Love seeing western art on FSM.
Sorry to hear about the washed out color and sepia-toning. Hope the entire program isn't going to be like that. I had hopes for the program. I'm waiting for the blu-ray before I start watching.
Take a good look at "When Shadows Hint Death" painted in 1915 by Charles M. Russell:
BTW - there is a Kris Kristofferson music short on HISTORY ON DEMAND. It has a brief scene from the picture in natural color. BEAUTIFUL! Why they decided to go with sepia is a mystery to me. Maybe they wanted the US and Mexican armies to look alike (PC Police run amok?).
