MONDAY, JULY 20

STAR WARS---Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Pictures posted their disapproval of GQ magazine's Star Wars photo parody with Amy Schumer, "Lucasfilm & Disney didn't approve, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner."
However, Mark Hamill posted a different reaction, "Got excited when I saw @amyschumer @GQMagazine pics & thought she was just cast in Ep 8! We should be so lucky."

Also, John Boyega posted a photo of himself as Finn with Chewbacca in THE FORCE AWAKENS.

SPECTRE---director Sam Mendes said SPECTRE might be his last Bond movie, “I said no to the last one and then ended up doing it, and was pilloried by all my friends. But I do think this is probably it…I don’t think I could go down that road again. You do have to put everything else on hold.”. He also commented on the movie's theme song, “I can say that the song’s been recorded and it’s fantastic and I’m very excited about it. You won’t have to wait long.”

THE X-FILES---Kumail Nanjiani (SILICON VALLEY) announced he's appearing on the Fox miniseries sequel and posted a photo of himself, wearing an animal control officer jacket, with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. He said about the photo, "The lighting is weird because there is a UFO right above our heads."

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR---Martin Freeman commented on his "ambiguous" secret role in the sequel, "He works for the American government. He works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes' power, I suppose," Freeman said. "So you're not quite sure which side he's on. It looks a little bit like he's playing one game when actually he's playing another."

GAME OF THRONES---Emilia Clarke said about the upcoming Season 6, "Ooooh. Oooooh there's so much in store for her [Daenerys Targaryen]. I'm saying that obviously because I've read the script for next season...I've said this before, but there's a lot of season where you need to kind of need to set the scene. And you have a couple of episodes where you're like, 'OK, feeding information, I get it. We're finding out about this person. And we know about that person. And oh, there's that person.'
But this season coming up...there's none of that. It's just go, go, go, go. Shocking moment to shocking moment. Epic moment to epic moment. It's mental; it's epic. And definitely Dany's a part of it."

ALIEN---Sigourney Weaver commented on if she chose to have Ripley killed off in ALIENS 3, “Well, yes, because I heard that Fox was gonna do ALIEN VS PREDATOR. Which really depressed me because I was very proud of the movies.”
She added, “In fact Ridley Scott was about to direct a third one, until this was announced, and he dropped out, because he also wanted to do an ALIEN sequel."

WONDER WOMAN---graphic novel writer Grant Morrison (WONDER WOMAN: EARTH ONE) commented on Wonder Woman after viewing the trailer for BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, "[The warrior woman thing is] not what [Wonder Woman creator] William Marston wanted, that's not what he wanted at all! His original concept for Wonder Woman was an answer to comics that he thought were filled with images of blood-curdling masculinity, and you see the latest shots of Gal Gadot in the costume, and it's all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera. Marston's Diana was a doctor, a healer, a scientist."

CSI---the cast for the two-hour series finale was announced: William Petersen, Marge Helgenberger, Paul Guilfoyle, Ted Danson, Jorja Fox, Jon Wellner, David Berman, Wallace Langham, Elisabeth Harnois, Robert David Hall, Eric Szmanda and Melinda Clarke. However, George Eads and Elisabeth Shue chose not to return. The premiere is September 27.

PASSENGERS---Michael Sheen (MASTERS OF SEX) will co-star with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence in this sci fi movie.

STRONGER---David Gordon Green (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS) will direct this movie based on the memoir by Jeff Bauman, a survivor of the Boston Marathon terrorist bombing who lost both legs and was a key witness in the bombing.

GOTHAM---Natalie Alyn Lind will play Silver St. Cloud.

ARROW---Alexander Calvert will play Anarky.

Disney more concerned about the moral standards of it's fictional characters, than of the humane standards of it's Chinese contracted workers in their toy factory sweatshops.

Disney has several problems but that doesn't mean they can't be outraged over a single one. It's a false argument that just because somebody or some company is not outraged over A doesn't mean that person or company cant' be outraged by B. That's Hamburger University thinking, with a Cracker Jack box diploma.

Deleted. Not worth getting into.

Well, I’m sure some of you won’t agree with me and that’s okay, but I want to say that I find
those Star Wars-Amy pictures disgusting. GQ is clearly displayed on shelves in stores. I’d rather those pictures be in Playboy behind black plastic if they must exist.

Star Wars may still appeal to a lot of older adults who loved it when young, but it is still hugely embraced by a youthful universe. What’s next? Since a live version of Beauty And The Beast is being made, shall we have Amy sucking the Beast’s thumb? If E.T. is remade, shall we see Amy sucking on E.T.’ lighted finger? I just find the whole thing rather disconcerting. I’d like to see some universes kept rather childlike and innocent.

Star Wars has incest, not intentionally, but it's there. It's also got dismemberment. I guess that's preferable to sexual jokes though.

I thought it was funny.

Bravo, Joan. Bravo.

My main concern isn't so much that she "defiled" Star Wars or whatever. It is that Schumer relentlessly rides her one note approach . Drives it home with a sledgehammer. Take away her "edgy" trashy sex angle, and she has nothing.

I mean, the lightsaber blowjob thing, REALLY ? That kinda sums up her idea of comedy.

While there's no such thing as bad publicity, I'd be amazed if Disney didn't go after GQ in court for monetary recompense.

I've never found her funny but those photos are in about as bad taste as what you'd find scrawled on the inside of a bathroom stall.

I don't know this comedian, never heard of her before. But even I get the parody behind it. It's ironic some don't. Parody is legal in the US, Disney doesn't have a case, and I'm sure they know that.

Like the Star Wars universe, in which people get sliced in half, eaten alive by monsters, killed in mass genocides and come close to having incestuous romances?

I'm glad to see a few do agree with me.

Really, I'm not a prude, and I like parody, funny parody. I remember a gazillion years ago when MAD magazine did a parody of The Sound of Music that made me laugh out loud. However, this Star Wars one did not get a smile from me. Like I said, I guess there are certain icons that I wish to continue to view through my Scout-Jem rose-colored glasses or that if satirized would be done with humor and good taste.

You do have a point Cindylover. Star Wars wasn't Bambi.

Amy Schumer is the sort of bottom dwelling thing that has no career without the porn approach to all they do. She is not funny, or talented in any way, so this is all she has, and all she will ever have.

Word. People need to lighten up. These are jokes. They're visual jokes, that's all. Amy doing this "spread" (yes, I went there) doesn't surprise me at all.

I've a feeling if it was a DC or Marvel heroes parody, nobody would be complaining. It's not like these are those cartoon pix where Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera characters engage in uncensored sex. Now those I hate with a vengeance.

I've never watched her show, but in the few things I've seen Amy Schumer in, I've found her funny. I'm about as big a Star Wars fan as you can get, and I find the cover/pics pretty funny.

Its also important to point out that the GQ shoot was not a parody. It wasn't making fun of the source material in anyway - it was simply her dressed a certain way that has been copyrighted for decades and is now held by the single most powerful industry giant in the world.

Admittedly, I'm a little sore because I never liked her schtick to begin with - it was bad when Sarah Silverman was doing it 15 years ago - but that photo spread is by no means a parody of anything.

And moving on, Clarke's comments ("It's just go, go, go.") makes me excited for next year's Game Of Thrones. You never know, unless you've read the books, who is going exit the series due to dying.
