A wonderful man passed away on July 19th. Van Alexander was a fantastic arranger and first rate composer. But what is more important is that he was a FIRST RATE person. Warm and sometimes very funny. When I moved to Los Angeles in 1963 and started working at Screen Gems TV, Van welcomed me into the fold of TV music and I could always go to him for guidance. He was a good friend and we will miss him. 100 years. What a life!

Stu Phillips
A nice remembrance, Stu. Thanks for a real first-person recollection of him.
So.....the question has come up in another thread about Van Alexander that his brother may have been composer Jerry Fielding. IMDB on the internet seems to think so, and the information that they both shared the same original last name, Feldman, and were born within 7 years of each other makes it possible.
