It's a solid score but a hatchet job of an album. To be fair the songs included are mostly good (especially Nina Simone's "Sinnerman," a centerpiece on the soundtrack), but it features only about fifteen minutes of score (out of about an hour) and does not include the best cue in the film, when Crown crashes his catamaran. I'd buy an expansion for that cue alone.
There was a Full Score [ almost anyway ] Promotional Composer released CD at the time of the film's release available if you were lucky enough to obtain a copy ......... .and it is a brilliant Conti score which elevates the movie to a different level altogether.............. and along with BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT and the ROCKY scores....... all should be made properly available to the public...............patience is a virtue for those who wait ........................maybe someday.........hopefully.......

Still holding out hope that one of our beloved labels can reissue this lovely work, with ALL of the contents from the promo and the film version of "Catamaran" restored
Gave the existing Pangaea album a spin in the car today and was amazed how scant the score tracks are. Even a Varese would have had more score tracks on it! This one is surely worthy of a huge expansion: surely someone must have an eye on it?
Doesn't this score feature 27 pianos or something. I remember discovering the music not from the film (which I've never seen), but from an advert on UK TV a few years back that featured it prominently. It's very good (I only have the released CD with about 15 mins of score, although I may have a CDR boot of it with lots more of the Conti somewhere).
