THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8

GAME OF THRONES---spoiler alert (see below).

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2---director James Gunn posted that the alien Sneepers may be in the sequel, "A couple weeks back I told you how the Marvel legal department advised against using Sneeper as an alien species in Guardians of the Galaxy because the word is "similar to the word meaning 'clitoris' in Icelandic."
Let it be known that I wasn't protesting this decision, I just thought it was funny, so I shared it. But the Marvel legal folks are sweet people and, after all of the online articles about me not being able to use the term Sneeper, they came back and told me that maybe it's not that big a deal after all: Sneeper is cleared for use.
So keep an eye out for at least one Sneeper somewhere in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."
Also, sources claim the two-part AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will have a record budget of $1 billion. If true, this would surpass THE HOBBIT trilogy's $745 million and THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES's $378 million.
Marvel Studios announced the sequel ANT-MAN AND THE WASP will premiere on July 6, 2018.

SHERLOCK---the BBC released a trailer for the Christmas special.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII---Gugu Mbatha-Raw has signed to play an undisclosed character in the sequel.

STEVE JOBS---writer Aaron Sorkin said Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale left the biomovie after being asked to by Jobs' widow, Laurene, "Since the very beginning, Laurene Jobs has been trying to kill this movie, OK? Laurene Jobs called Leo DiCaprio and said, 'Don't do it.' Laurene Jobs called Christian Bale and said, 'Don't [do it].' "

PAPILLON---remake underway of the 1973 prison escape movie that starred Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.

SPECTRE---Daniel Craig commented on if he wants to return for the sequel to SPECTRE, "I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That's fine. I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on."

GHOSTBUSTERS---Rick Moranis said he declined a cameo role in the all-female reboot movie, "I wish them well. I hope it's terrific. But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?...[But Ghostbusters] didn’t appeal to me.”

BLADE RUNNER 2---cinematographer Roger Deakins said the sequel will be shown in 3D.

POWER RANGERS---Naomi Scott (TERRA NOVA) will play Pink Ranger in the movie.

GAME OF THRONES---a photo indicates that another dead character may be returning to the series in Season 6. A photo shows Sibel Kekilli (Shae) and Conleth Hill (Lord Varys) in Pensicola, Spain where Season 6 is filming. Shae was strangled to death in Season 4's finale. Other photos show Kit Harington and Sean Bean also in costume.
Also, Melanie Liburd (THE GRINDER, STRIKE BACK) will join the cast as a Red Priestess based in Mereen. Speculation is that Liburd will be a different Red Priestess than Carice Van Houten's character.

Doing all his own stunts must be tough on the knees. Poor guy, I really feel sorry for him.

Biggest most gross waste of money ever. I'm guessing half of that is RDJ's salary. wink

The world spends $12 million an hour on nuclear weapons programs. Frankly I'm happier for 1 billion to go to movies than to nukes.

"The report claims around $400 million of that is for screenwriters, directors, producers and principal cast members, with Robert Downey Jr. to get essentially "half of the actor budget". "

I was half joking. For all the money thrown at the screen nothing knocks my socks off anymore. Give a good film crew $50 million, write a good script with interesting characters. Do something creative with your visuals, sound design, editing and you will have a much better film. (IMHO)
