...it never occurred to me until now... but when a company like Intrada releases an LP of a score they recently released on CD.... are the sound samples of the LP ACTUALLY TAKEN FROM ONE OF THE LPS, or do they use the sound samples of a CD?

Does it matter?

Not to me, but I AM curious... I would think that they would HAVE to use an actual LP for the sound samples instead of using a CD, since they would definitely sound differently!

Well, if the appeal of vinyl is that it's analogue and not digital, you're out of luck transmitting that across the internet. Yeah, Schiffy... I think that was what I was trying to say(But didn't do a very good job of)... I started to listen to something on youtube a few days ago and it was obviously taken from an old LP, and the sound was just atrocious. I would think if one of the companies were going to post sound sample of an LP release, they would use a pristine copy and use "state-of-the-art" equipment so they could post the very best sounding samples! Did that make any sense?

I would think that they use the digital master to create a lower bitrate sample, just like for their CD releases...
