Very fine score, by the way, even if Synth-Jerry™ makes a few too-many cameos for my liking throughout. "Everywhere" used to be one of my favorite pieces of film music when I first started collecting, genuinely bringing a tear to my eye. It's one of Goldsmith's grandest send-offs for sure, and works beautifully in the film.
I missed the original release and only saw the movie when the new expanded version came out. I really admire the way Goldsmith helped give this movie heart and mystery, with a grave, tragic through-line I found immensely affecting.
Put it down as yet another case where Jerry single-handedly justified the existence of a well-intentioned but marginal film.
No, it's just incredible coincidence that while researching for the Detroit thread an obscure post popped up and I'm like oh I'll have to ask Shaun some day if that's the wife he mentioned out there in the FSM gathering. Guess the day came!
Persephone?
You had me ROTFLOL with that one. Thanks, Kev, I needed that!
