I never want croutons in a salad, but I adore them in any soup or chowder!
And if I'm at a restaurant where they make their own croutons on the premises, I'll munch them all by themselves!

I don't like them in a salad either, but I'm sure they work in some other form. Like Chris says, bread (because it is a form of bread) in soup works reasonably well.

Hey, they must do something with week-old bread.

(Get a chainsaw, cut it into cubes...)

Nothing wrong with croutons in the right context. I am surprised to see them getting their own thread, however.

Like, but only on caesar salads and ONLY when they've become slightly soft from the dressing.

Rumor has it that Stanley Kubrick stole the croutons from Kirk Douglas' salad during an Academy Awards dinner.

Here he is blowing out the candles that were for one of the children's birthday. He cant stop himself from hogging the spotlight.

Like them in either soup or salads. But they are high in fat.

As my brother-in-law is wont to say, "Now, a little toast . . . CROUTONS!"

Croutons are ace on Caesar salad or maybe in a French onion soup.
