OK...I listened to the youtube version last night. I can't believe how well this was done--it still holds up...excellent narration, seamless editing sound effects and music...flows very well. It's one thing that actually stands up to my childhood memory!

Radio drama thrives in the UK!

I had TSOSW. Loved it for ages. Even better I also had on BBC Records the classic Doctor Who story Genesis of the Daleks, with linking narration by then current Doctor, Tom Baker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjoTDwbsqBM

We are still used to radio drama in the UK, thanks to BBC Radio 4http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4. One friend of mine says the pictures are better on radio! And it still runs one of the most popular soaps here, The Archers.

For Doctor Who fans over the years making their own audio adventures, to sell was as big as fanzines or other forms of amateur production. And it lead to the creation of a commercial version in the form of Big Finish, which is licensed to produce audio adventures of most of the surviving previous Doctors and their casts. The guest casts include some of the biggest actors in the business. https://www.bigfinish.com/hubs/v/doctor-who

They also do other old series like The Avengers, The Tomorrow People and Blakes 7, as well as original adaptations like Sherlock Holmes and Dracula.

I have a complete set of SHERLOCK HOLMES dramas.
I had to order them from Northern Ireland but I believe they have since been released domestically.

They also did adaptations of Raymond Chandler such as THE LONG GOODBYE.
