Sounds interesting. I always wondered why Blish's story adaptions were different from the TV episodes. Kinda wish they included all the lost footage, instead of just the footage as it re-appears in 12 complete episodes.

I absolutely loved the Blish books (and his non-Trek work too) and still treasure my Corgi edition of the first one which my dad bought for me - in which McCoy is referred to as "Doc", something Blish later apologised for.
In the pre-VHS days, these novels - and the brilliant Fotonovels (remember them?) were the real source of episode info available for a fan of TOS.
In the Colonies we had the Bantam issues. Yes, had the fotonovels too (hated the added dialog balloons, ie when Edith Keeler is killed, "Ah, she was a good kid {burp}"), and ST: New Voyages.
Back in the day I bought from the above Trek Blish Paperbacks, Numbers 1, 2, 3, 9, and the cool one pictured below. Around the same time I remember buying all of the Planet of Apes Movie Paperback Adaptation Tie-Ins. What a great time, when you could get a neat paperback book for 60 cents!

I actually bought mint-condition copies as a holiday gift from my friend Rivka about ten years ago. Took me quite a long time to catch 'em all, and when she unwrapped them, she was literally in tears of joy.
